Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

I love how they never mention the reason for the staffing shortage.
Because too many nurses believed in conspiracy theories and wouldn't just get the vaccine when we KNOW it saves lives.

What the hell would nurses know about treating COVID patients?

That really is their problem. They've nothing to rally behind when Obama left them with both a fractured party and a fractured base.

Say what you want about the GoP but most of the people who vote red are in one way or another on the same page, generally. Like, as a civic nationalist I agree more with an ethno nationalist than a prog agrees with a lib. As a right-libertarian I agree more with a conservative than a left-libertarian agrees with a communist, etc.

The fundamental problem is that the Dems united AGAINST someone. The different groups share nothing in common beliefwise. The Republicans all have different groups, but the groups have a lot of common beliefs as well. What the hell common beliefs do #DASQUAD have with the moderate dems except abortion? Even then I would argue that most moderate Dems that I know are against third-term abortions except for emergencies; the progressives think babies can be aborted until or during labor.

Wait a minute. Who is filling in the usual jobs for the NG guys?
Take them from their day job and force them to be nurses or whatever. Hell, if they're qualified to be working in the hospitals that probably means they have a medical job.
There's a good possibility they're more-or-less forcibly removing nurses and techs from the country and making them work in the city.
It wouldn't surprise me at all to see the lefties and the bugmen decide to literally start conscripting people from the country to keep their bugman hives going. Might start seeing more of that as things start to fall apart in the coming decades.

This bothers me a lot, as a nurse you will see and hear a lot of stuff first hand. Maybe you see something you don't like? Maybe that's influencing your choice on vaccination. If my uncle is a used car salesman, and he tells me about how a certain car I wanted to buy always falls apart, I might pay attention to what he's saying. He's not a German car engineer, sure, but that doesn't mean he can't talk about how this car has a propensity to leak oil. If many nurses are seeing a weird trend, and are willing to lose their job over it, my spider sense goes off a a little. I swear though, if I hear someone say the healthcare system is overwhelmed I'm going to scream at the person and ask them what they thought about it when the state was firing hundreds of nurses.

lol nobody.

No it's the inverse, only New York City so far has had purges .
Let me clarify. NG is filling positions. If they're qualified medical staff, they're being moved from their day jobs (presumably in the country) to active duty in the NG and assigned to work in NYC.
Or at least moved from whatever they normally do (the only NG guys I know are skilled tradesmen) to menial work in the city. A net productivity loss.

I wonder if the Dems becoming more progressive will lead them to the fate of Labour in the UK. Or was Labour's collapse made possible by their parliamentary system that gave voters more party options to retreat to?

I just think on a lot of issues that the UK left is slightly ahead of us. Brexit was a precursor to Trump; their troon debates were already going hot as our politicians started saying "pregnant people" en masse; Corbyn's antisemitism came before Omar's and Tlaib's. I would like to see similar blowouts for the Dems in the coming years, but I worry our system may not hold them to account.

Hard to enforce something like that when the people you’re trying to conscript are usually armed.

Something that has flown completely under the radar somehow is that for all the talk about "trust the science", the FDA voted against boosters like 14-2, and the CDC overruled them. Nobody is talking about this contradiction, nor what "science" the CDC used to overrule the FDA.

Give me your rainbows, but it really feels like the left has overplayed their hand. I think it looks bad now because it's an "extinction event" and the Dems are on their death throes. You can tell Congress is desperate to push through all of their legislation RIGHT FUCKING NOW.

People were for gay marriage in 2015 because the gays were really good at sending a message that "we only want to live in peace ourselves." Now you have all these trannies demanding that you literally suck their dicks, Dems trying to literally make it illegal for you to know your own child's trans-status (like a cult), and BLM saying "silence is violence" and "it's not enough to not be racist, you have to be anti-racist."

We'll see in 2022, but I think the left is pissing the center/Independents off. Remember why Trump even won in 2016 in the first place; the Dems not only have forgotten the reason, but TRIPLED down because EVERYTHING IS ISMS AND PHOBIAS to them.

I promise you that Democrats don't think far enough ahead to consider whether or not the National Guard are qualified to be medical staff, they think of the military as all-purpose multi-tools.

That's pretty crazy when you think about it. I mean how many of us didn't hear about was it Kelly Wasserman-Schultz, Howard Dean (he was a head once right?), and ...uh I forgot who ever was this guy's predecessor. Had a Hispanic surname, wore glasses, was an obnoxious blowhard (yeah, I know not the most useful description to go by), but my point is I heard from those people much as I didn't want to. I have no idea who this guy is.

Then again, I don't know who the current RNC chair is either.
Mitt Romney's cousin iirc.

I do wonder how far they can push the use of the National Guard before they start to run into a bunch of legal concerns.

Using the NG to supplement emergency medical services? Pretty free pass.

Using the NG to drive schoolbuses and fuel tankers? For a short term emergency, maybe, but how long until they're just using underpaid military labor to drive out private business and civilians from the market, intentionally or otherwise? Is the line drawn at state services like the schools, or are we gonna see PFC Hoodrat forced to drive the Pepsi shipment into NYC.

If they keep trying to paper over passive protest with the military, someones gotta start sounding the alarm at some point, right?

The only reason independents swung for Biden was:

1. They were shitlibs (see: Rogan, Joe).

2. They were browbeaten into it. Sea-sick drifters who constantly saw that "The end is nigh" everyday in 2020's corporate news cycle. They had to contemplate Trump over everything he did for 4 years. They "lost" everything because they didn't tow the correct line. Sad.

To be fair, that's most left policies these days.

They are outright stating that you have no rights to personal freedoms "in a pandemic" and then are legitimately shocked that they get pushback.
It's "You don't have your rights to personal freedoms in an emergency" + "this is a permanent emergency situation that will last until we decide it's over."

The lesson we've forgotten is: If you give up your rights in an emergency they'll create an emergency to take away your rights. The left hasn't forgotten this at all, in fact, they're counting on it.

Biden won because white men didn't want to vote for Hillary. That's pretty much what the exit polls showed: the white male vote increased from 31% to 38%. Trump gained in every minority vote except staying steady with black women despite four years of the MSM calling Trump the most racist President ever. 1 in 5 black men voted for Trump in 2020, which was like a 60 year high for a Republican. The KKKubans were so based that Florida wasn't even a contest.

Nothing is more permanent than a temporary government policy.
