It might just be me, but until proven otherwise, I am of the opinion that nobody actually likes light roast coffee, but it's this weird hip kayfabe that's going on where you must signal that you know light roast is superior in order to not be viewed as uncultured swine.

As someone who drinks light roast coffee, I think the only people who do it actually don't like coffee that much. I drink it for the caffeine, not the flavor. Light Roast doesn't have much flavor, so I tolerate it better. My spouse, who loves coffee, prefers dark roasts because he actually wants a strong coffee flavor. People are just pretending light is better because they don't want to admit that they don't like the taste of it. Same reason they get the 1000 calorie coffee drinks at Starbucks.

As someone who drinks light roast coffee, I think the only people who do it actually don't like coffee that much. I drink it for the caffeine, not the flavor. As a fellow coffee-disliker, try adding a packet or two of hot chocolate to it. Along with tasting better, apparently it also increases attention and decreases anxiety.

The think about dark roast is it all tastes the same. If you have a coffee with an actually distinctive flavor, like kona, if you dark roast it it will just taste like ass, like the cheap blended junk that is usually dark roasted, because all the flavor has been literally burned out of it. Dark roasting is roasting it until it smokes and the oil comes to the surface.

This is a good way to treat some non-distinctive beans and makes a perfectly good cup of coffee, but it's no way to treat a bean that has a distinctive flavor. Light is usually too light and doesn't bring out any of the bitter tasting chemicals that give it a "coffee" flavor, while dark almost completely obliterates any distinctive character (which is a good way to salvage a bean with funky sour notes since it ends up tasting the same as any other bean).

Medium or somewhere in between light and medium is imo where it's at, so I'll give the tranchers that, at least if they chose it. It probably was the coffee dudes who decided on that, though. I doubt these idiots who can't even scramble eggs know anything about coffee.

Solar? I’m just curious because if they did the work themselves then they could end up starting a fire or burning up equipment. Solar inverters aren’t cheap once you get to a certain level. I’m also curious to see if they were capable/aware enough to properly ground everything.

Durrr, yes that one! They were installed when they moved in, I believe, and they paid someone to replace them after the 10k grift.
