Been saying for years people streaming/on youtube are raking in money, still ebegging for donos. How the fuck do you go to bed at night making 100k per fucking month and take 5 dollars off some poor Pakistani child? Fucking pathetic Jew scum the whole lot of 'em.

I'm pretty sure the chings chonged the same way even with SARS. Besides, what's odd is that Eastern European countries, that went through dicatorships since the 1930s, aren't experiencing the mass surveillance thing. Keep in mind that former Yugoslavia didn't even really do a proper purge of communist politicians, yet we still don't have the regimes going authoritarian mode under the excuse of 'rona. Then again, maybe because here we don't fuck around like cocaine addicts on the West do. Perhaps people in Aussie land should stop with sniffing the sniffy sniffy stuff, and take up arms, if necessary. But I guess snorting coke and reeing about misgendering is more important, as it would be in other Western countries. Besides, the Aussies taking up arms would be a great message for the red chings that wanna chong Australia, that Aussies don't fuck around. Hopefully my fellow former Yugoslav mates living in Aussie land will follow my advice.

The West never had a spying dragnet like the Soviets had with the KGB, Stasi and so forth until some CIA backed project called "Facebook" got big. Nobody in the US will appreciate the Constitution until someone manages to erode it. We came pretty damn close to it this year.

The western world made a hard 90 degree turn into despotism and fascism from the 1990s on (which objectively was a good period of time in the West, for the most part. Things were affordable. The internet didn't take hold and trade deals weren't in full effect.) and nobody bothered to say stop until Donnie won and suddenly, people realized the cage was erected long ago, it couldn't be ignored anymore.

Lots and lots of third-party software and libraries. Half of twitch-apps/ is just redistribution of Android NDK. In video/ there is also some other SDKs and Boost libraries. Other large stuff seems to be analytics, logs and neural models. Also found a 1.2 gig video essay about using some of their internal systems (systems/caller/docs/nac-caller.mp4).

Also, consider what it’s like to actually have a career as a Twitch streamer. The shame and embarrassment at dates or family reunions must be ungodly. You couldn’t pay me enough to forfeit my dignity like that.

They have long been check box minimum requirement exercises, if you look at them now and how they are set up and enforced they are summed up as meet this standard your safe there is no encouridgement (and sometimes active discourgements) to go above and beyond and that standards baseline unless it's specifically required.

I partly blame this on IT being viewed as a Cost Center not a Value Driver even in "Technical Companies" mostly because a lot of Senior Technical managment is no longer a IT guy they are more business managment graduates with a better than average understanding of IT and them wanting to follow the latest trend in IT such as Virtualisation was in the mid to late 00'S The cloud was in the teens and AI is now rather than focusing on Core functions first, and when you combine that with poor recruitment practices your a ticking time bomb waiting for a serious infrastructure failue, or massive and embarrassing data breach.

Eh, you say that, but I'm willing to guess that a fair number of Twitch streamers have family members that are more or less proud to see their kids/siblings have made it on Twitch if they're drawing livable incomes off of it. Hell, even Huggbees (Critikal's best friend and one of the Official Podcast hosts) has streamed 60 Seconds/Parsecs with his own mother a couple years back and she took delight in the experience.

Granted, I'm sure that experience isn't the same for all Twitch streamers, but it's like others in the thread stated: gotta respect the hustle.
