Yeah, Chris' Oedipus Complex likely goes back several years. Maybe even his whole life. His relationship with Barb has always been bizarre, and there have been several examples of him voicing his preference of Barb over Bob. A lot of that is likely because Barb coddled and spoiled Chris, never having firm expectations for him, always being soft on him, never holding Chris accountable for inappropriate behavior. Bob was always the one who tried his best to give Chris firm boundaries, make him act like a decent human being, and hold him accountable for his actions and behavior, like making Chris pay back the money he stole when he racked up a huge debt by using Bob and Barb's credit card without asking. I think Barb is mostly to blame for the way Chris was raised, hen-pecking Bob into submission whenever he actually wanted to parent Chris or whenever people were being "mean" to Chris. But I also think Chris favored Barb because they're was always a sexual attraction towards her. The fact that he's voiced his support for mother/son incest and talked about having wet dreams about Barb for many years is just the disgusting icing on the vomit cake.

Does Chris even think of himself as truly disabled? He always sounds proud to call himself a high functioning autistic. I think he focuses on the "high functioning" part rather than the "autistic" part. I don't think he realizes that this means he is high functioning only relative to low-functioning autistics, who can't talk or carry on basic tasks. I think Chris views himself as a savant genius who can't fit into normal society because people won't take the time to understand his brilliant mind or something.
I've felt for a long time that Chris "high-functioning" diagnosis was either a lie by his parents (mostly Barb), a lie from Chris himself, or a misdiagnosis. Chris is moderately functional at best. Sure, he's not drooling all over himself, shitting his pants every day, he can speak well enough that most people can understand him, and he's even able to operate a motor vehicle on public roads and highways with only a few notable incidents, but it's clear he's totally incapable of conducting himself successfully or navigate the intricacies and trials of adult life as an unsupervised independent like a normal person. His mentality and understanding of the world may not be cause by a psychological disorder, but it's definitely detached from reality, delusional, and most closely resembles that of a small child. And it doesn't help that Chris has actively and willfully avoided any kind of self-improvement to attempt to get himself into a better functioning mindset and way of life, refusing to acknowledge that everything about him and the way he lives is unhealthy and highly abnormal. Whenever pressed about his retardation and dysfunction, Chris always fell back on his confidence in being "high-functioning" and excuses like being "young at heart". Even if he was high-functioning at some point in life, that hasn't been the reality of the situation for a very long time due to the way Chris lived his life and the choices he's made along the way. I'd genuinely be interested in seeing the results of the court ordered psychological evaluation, particularly if a head shrinker who is expected to be as brutally honest about Chris' mental condition would still consider Chris to be on the high-functioning end of the Autism Spectrum.
