Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Because it makes no sense for him to do so. He’s sitting in the catbird seat right now, everyone has to come to him. Why leave the “Blue Team” just to give the “Red Team” control of the Senate and weaken his own position?

Reminds me of the ending of Castlevania Lords of Shadows where the hero basically beats all the evil guys and achieves the goal he set out for only to find an ally right in front of him to reveal himself as the true villain who had everything planned out perfectly. He then easily kills the hero and gloats over his victory just when Satan starts gloating behind him, revealing that it wasn't he who had it all planed out perfectly, but that Satan had it all planed out perfectly for himself. Then Satan just burns the villain alive and takes his own victory.
In the end the hero is revived by God and he beats the shit out of Satan.
Here's hoping something like this happens with all of this bullshit too lol

It wouldn't surprise me to see Manchin leave the dems, but I doubt he would go republican. Most of the rumors about him switching parties have been around for a lot longer than the debt ceiling argument, but I think it's just the WV GOP being hopeful. Manchin isn't a conservative. He's a blue dog democrat that has to side with 2A and the fossil fuel industry because that's two of the massive policies voters in WV react to. He also has to deal with the massive demand for social welfare programs due to the environmental movement and job outsourcing crippling his state (chemical plants, coal, and natural gas) and generating a shitload of poor white people. I believe the biggest employer in the state these days are public sector unions, mostly teachers, so there has to be a touch of blue to state politics even if they're extremely red on federal policy. If he goes anywhere, he'd have to go independent and refer to himself as one of the last "old school democrats." Manchin would be an unpopular republican at best and would be given very little power from the GOP. His biggest power move would be to stay with the DNC and try to force the party from totally falling off the cliff.

I have my doubts about that at this point...his approval rating is basically at Trump levels nine months in, and Trump lost the popular vote.

The only explanation I can think of is that a lot of people are having buyer's remorse now, but they should have known what a disaster he would be just by watching the 2020 campaign.

And they fucked it up because they decided to be Veruca Salt. Even down to the fact that they didn't even find the Golden Ticket themselves (well, officially).

This coming Superbowl is by far the one I'm looking forward to the most. I couldn't give two shits about the football, I just can't wait for "Fuck Joe Biden!" to be chanted at what is probably the US's biggest sporting event. I imagine they'll try to keep it from happening, but there's no way they're going to stifle this budding American tradition.
