Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

I guess it's a difference in language, and maybe just my choice of words for translating it.
I always thought it was more of a short-term/long-term distinction. Side effects occur as a result of taking the drug, especially short-term, while long-term effects represent unknown effects that may arise over a period of time that exceeds the original clinical trial period.

. Some of them had Facebook profiles, and that was basically the only place they were reachable, so I grudgingly made a Facebook account to try and contact them. Others were on closed forums that basically required proof of educational status and institutional affiliation to join. Many had university email accounts that were unreachable and basically abandoned. Jump up and down and scream from the rooftops, and you may get the attention of one PhD out of a hundred. There was no neutral ground, no meeting place where scientists and non-scientists could mingle.

The insularity of the scientific community is, in itself, shocking. Think about how easy they would be to manipulate by the people pulling the strings, waving around grant money. It's an inherently corruptible system.
A lot of academics hate academics. My mentor is from a former Soviet Block country and has a general interest in philosophy due to his religious views. Most likely a lot of them aren't as vocal as past professors like in the 60-70's era where a lot of them wouldn't shut the hell up because the current Admin is a lot more ruthless. Some colleges and uni's during Covid saw Admin play a game of crying about how they had to cut everyone's salaries for a second so they could sort out remote learning and then Admin gave themselves a bonus. I know a few colleges who basically wanted to get rid of tenure because a lot of senior STEM faculty were getting pissed about how Admin was blatantly taking Covid Relief money for themselves.

Try to physically meet with a few professors if you can. Chemists and biological scientists are pretty chill people, Physicists are split between autists and egomanics who make movie trailers for their research. As people have said, a lot of them don't remember shit about biological science because they specialized in something else. I don't really think it's compartmentalization, but I've had to explain a basic breakdown of radiation to a lot of biologists, generally it's as useful as an Amish knowing that Mercury is the 1st planet in the solar system.

Deleted Report: Corona Shows Public Have ‘Deep Set Reverence’ for Govt But Hate Elite Hypocrisy

In all, the report found the British public — and people in general — did what they were told by the government, “have a powerful tendency to conform”, can be “nudged” into making government-approved decisions, and, where all else fails, tend to accept the new status quo when changes are forced, even if they were unwanted by the public in the first place.
Not exactly earth-shattering revelations, as the Britain has been the home of creepy, despicable, at-odds-with-reality heavy-handed propaganda warfare against not only its citizens but the world in general, but interesting nonetheless. *report attached

Britons STILL Frightened of Being in Enclosed Spaces with Maskless People

Britons are nowe more frightened of being in enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces with people not wearing masks than they were in July before coronavirus restrictions were lifted, according to a poll.
Are you really, bong?

It is now safe to say that if you've gotten a COVID shot, you are a fool, but it is excusable because you were frightened by a relatively incomparable psych warfare compaign. If you keep getting these shots, now that it is clear that this is bullshit, you are just fucking dumb.

I duked it out with the nursing home last night to be allowed to see my grandpa from inside his room (or to at least move his bed so I could hear him from outside the door) and lost. Gonna follow up on Monday when people who can approve special exemptions are more available. They did not buy my "I refuse to tell you if I am or am not vaccinated" argument at all. I think we need more (vaccinated) people to start refusing to cave to the demands for paperwork or we're not gonna get anywhere.

I think starting to fight is the right plan... I'm low-key concerned about what's gonna happen when they start mandating vaccine cards for restaurants in a few weeks. If any restaurants actually enforce, some hard conversations are gonna have to happen with the friends I usually go out to eat with, who are all happy, vaccinated campers and probably oblivious to how nutty this is getting behind the scenes.

Also, two more fully vaccinated friends have come down with Covid. Nobody got it that bad but one (female in her 60s) missed two weeks of work.

And I got a negative antibody test after getting a positive one at the beginning of August. The pharmacy tech said she doesn't understand why my antibodies faded so fast, and the August test should be reliable.

Since covid during pregnancy has been brought up a few times, I'll share some of my favorite footnotes from the data:
Link to CDC page

Kudos for using pregnant women instead of something like "persons with occupied uteruses", but let's check that footnote:

If you dig a little deeper there is a bit more context:

I would love to know exactly how many geriatric and prepubescent "pregnant" women were included in the data last year. The error is likely (hopefully) rare but I find it amazing that there is not a better way to verify pregnancy status and control for these errors.

But wait, there's more!

They don't know if the pregnant 60 year old was in the hospital for covid or because they were giving birth.

I have this same concern. I also worry about the flipside, where some of my favorite restaurants might suffer because they're going to have to start checking those stupid things. (And how would they confirm if it's real or not anyway? We all know this is exactly why people want to start rolling out that stupid "MyID" or whatever the fuck that app is called.)
One place I used to really like is already gone.
See also, this screenshot from reddit a friend sent to me:

From where, exactly, does this redditard think restaurants get their money?

Because they trust the science, which is now and forevermore settled.
Remember that the Earth being flat, the Sun revolving around the Earth, flies spontaneously generating from rotting meat, and that the Black Plague being caused by a miasma was settled science at one point or another. Science is how we come to understand the world and how various aspects of it work. Science™️, which Covidians are so in love with, is a nebulous authority they cite as a way to browbeat people into compliance and to stop others from thinking too hard about their bullshit.

The hell is this thing and why is it so funny?
It's a clip from Mike Judge's film Idiocracy when the main character goes to the hospital.

A great movie and definitely worth watching...it's funny as is but disturbing at the same time given the way things are going now. It was supposed to be a dystopia but compared to today's clown world his future world is a utopia.

It's from Idiocracy, I think. The selection menu from the hospital.
Right, it's because the general intelligence in the future was so reduced that--
Presumably some form of visual aid developed to cope with the mass influx of illiterate brown subhumans all over the Western world.
Hey - there were plenty of illiterate white subhumans to go around, thanks.

I hear the antibody tests are kind of shitty. There are groups right now working on much more sensitive/accurate tests. It's mentioned on this podcast if anyone is interested. https://www.spreaker.com/user/11759118/ngg-ep90-final saw that on RWMalone's twitter a while back.
