The 90s and early 00s were marked by high activity of "Rechtsrock" bands, effectively more or less trashy rock/metal bands who promulgated neo-nazi ideology. Sometimes it's so cringy it feels like a LARP, although there are some genuinely good songs here and there. It's somewhat of a cultural phenomenon to this day in rural Germany actually, it's kind of a punk thing, rebellion in an idyllic world where not much is happening, the allure of the forbidden and all, and even literal left-wing extremists who grew up rurally often have surprisingly extensive knowledge of Rechtsrock bands and songs.
