Infected Euphoric atheists

Eh, depends on the church. Some are just run by scumbags who use the money to get private jets so they can avoid the devils that are the normal common folk.

When you get a bunch of them or they keep popping up in the community is when you get people wanting to anticlericalize the hell out of their stuff.
Jesus himself said his jannies should sell everything and do it for free, so it shouln't be an issue

Probably it's fake. Only a few really nutty churches are going to object in totality to video games, this sounds like some larper.
Yeah I'm not even aware of a denomination that bans video games entirely. Maybe some of the crazier independent Pentecostal churches, but also if he was in that deep she'd be complaining about the fact that she couldn't wear pants. Only dresses.

Smells like LARP to me too

My own pastor, a conservative preacher from a conservative Lutheran denomination, is an avid fantasy enthusiast who's actually DM'd in the Church's boardroom after services in the past and has attended Blizzcon for years. I have to agree that this "no video games, period" line seems to indicate pure LARP.

It's hard for scientism believers to post an L any bigger than this. Evidence-based best practice is what gave us Thalidomide and hormone replacement therapy. We need to be really skeptical of what the establishment believes is good, because what they consider evidence is often produced in bad faith and fails to satisfy the epistemic requirements it claims to.

Having been in a profession that emphasizes "evidence-based best practice", I can say that it doesn't "strengthen" you at all, or even tells you what to do in most situations (In other words, it is far from the guidance that lets you "do all things"). It merely covers your ass when things goes awry.

I recommend the book Medical Nihilism to people who have unshakeable faith on so called "evidence-based medicine".

The only time I come across "no vidya" these days is in relation to vidya addiction.

I wonder if that retard would say the same of Islam. Probably not is my guess. Hell, most of the idiots who say shit like that can and will wear hijabs and cuck down to the culture that literally refuses to talk to women due to them not being important enough in Arab society.

Just read the passage, and this is taken slightly out of context. The entire chapter is talking about translating/interpreting other languages within the church. Near the very end of the chapter, at verse 34, it states "oh btw, reminder that women are not to have an authority role in the church (or in relationships), so they are not to have this interpretive role.

Relatedly, I've seen some get upset at Ephesians 5:22-24, as it's pretty clear: "Wives are to be subject to their husbands. The husbands are the heads of the wife, just as Christ is head of the assembly. Likewise, the assembly serves Christ, so shall the wives serve their husbands." Queue screeching about misogyny.

The very next set of verses
: "Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the assembly and gave himself up for it. That he might also sanctify it, and that it should be holy and without defect. Husbands should also love their wives as they love their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself, and no man ever hated his own flesh."

Clearly, this means that spousal abuse is allowed!

Any chance that that's the Missouri Synod? I just joined them (somewhat) recently myself.

Is it just me or do most of the standard euphoric atheists usually have a negative religious experience with family or an organization in the past that is the source of their hard line atheism?

I've had 2 friendly associates who both had bad histories with being brought up in Jevovah Witnesses families. Both of whom have gone deep diving into all faith is evil territory.

I'm sympathic, but it feels like teenagers doing the classic, "Fuck you mom and dad" spiel.

Yeah, having to survive being trapped into an evil cult is definitely equal to being an angry teenager.

JWs are particularly fucked up and controlling, so that's kind of understandable really. That religion pretty much dominates every aspect of ones life, including how you spend your free time at home. It's not the same as your usual Christian upbringing where you just go to church every Sunday morning, the leaders will make you feel bad if you spend literally any time doing anything other than what they want, all the way to condemning JWs who try to build decent careers by going to university, which is obviously going to make people kind of resentful when the leave

Those JWs seem horrible, would you by any chance know of a final solution to their menace?
