It's also part of the reason it's hard to watch Phil. No matter what he says or does he still makes 12k a month being a piece of shit lol. The wheelchairs never learn. And Phil never learns.

Don't worry boys. He still won't be able to pay his bills this month.

Tax time will be fun too since the bank leaks didn't, from what I recall, contain any large payments to the IRS that would match a quarterly payment of some kind. So he'll catch another big tax bill square on the double chin.

Speaking of, can any of our resident accountants (@DSP's Tax Lawyer or @marlintan) tell us whether the debt forgiven in bankruptcy would count as income or anything like that for tax purposes? It's not.

Makes me wonder how the IRS would react if they saw that one of their more reluctant paypigs (Phil) actually makes over 10k EACH month. Would they try to enforce a higher payment? Or even do an audit on him?
Though I bet Phil has equally high expenses each month: from regular payments (mortgage, electricity etc) to other things "mature adults" do: doordash,, alcohol, gacha. And I bet my remaining hair he tries to deduct every bit of it

It just goes to show how much of a poseur he is even when it's things that he's supposedly passionate about. In the case of food, he bigs himself up as this gourmand who knows what good food is when he's got the palate of a child. He doesn't hold true passion for even D'VOURING food since all he wants to eat is microwavable and fast food dreck because he's used to that and it doesn't take a lot of effort to make. I've called Phil the embodiment of the Last Man in Thus Spake Zarathustra and it's the same with his relationship with food. His passion for it only comes from the comfort it provides and he hates going out of his comfort zone. Not to mention, somehow he's come out more ignorant after trying new food because he's come out thinking that only Arabic food is Mediterranean food, I honestly can't believe that for all this time LARPing as a robust Itahlien stahllien he doesn't know that Italy is one of the first countries people think of when they think Mediterranean cuisine. For fuck's sake, the most dominant force in the Mediterranean during the Classical era of history were the Romans, they come from Italy! This ties in with his ridiculous lack of knowledge of geography. Americans get a bad reputation for being shit at geography, but Phil is legitimately the first person of any nationality I've seen or met who doesn't know what or where the Mediterranean is and who doesn't know that Thai food is from Thailand.

So given that his only frame of reference for American cuisine is mass-produced fast food dreck and microwavable slop like Hamburger Helper, is it really a surprise that he considers it bland? Let's not even get into the regional differences in American cuisines and keep it simple, let's take something as quintessentially American as a hamburger. A hamburger made at something like McDonalds or Burger King is a cheaply made piece of shit with a patty made out of mystery meat and other ingredients being chemically enhanced in order to get you addicted to it, to pacify you and to slowly chemically castrate you. You could argue that they are bioweapons disguised as food in order to keep the home population docile and in the case of foreign countries, to keep them open to culturally deleterious ideas that 21st century America propagates. On the other hand, if you're even just a half-decent cook you can make a nice, juicy home-made hamburger with fresh ingredients and a patty made from scratch using fresh ground beef. The differences in taste and quality is night and day.

tl;dr Phil has the palate of a child and only eats garbage fast food so it's no surprise he thinks that even halfway decent food is like mana from the gods. Also because his only frame of reference for American cuisine is the previously mentioned garbage fast food it's no wonder he thinks it's bland.

Idk who told you debt forgiveness isn't counted as income for tax purposes but it definitely is
