Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

The Youngkin win honestly seems pretty fucking bad for Republicans in the long term. The main thing the guy seemed to run on was the milquetoast establishment Republican position of "CRT bad". While true, it's a relatively minor issue in comparison to the multitude of more important populist policies that were shown to be of value to Trump Republicans. Youngkin even seemed to make a point of avoiding having a rally with Trump even though the T man likely would have happily done one.

Establishment Republicans are basically treating populist policies and Trump as though they're repellant to voters and a Youngkin win helps confirm in their minds that they're right. When really what helped Youngkin was Democrats fucking up so insanely badly with denouncing parents, defending racism (with CRT and whatever), and doing stupid shit like the Lincoln Project stunt.
While I agree with you on that’s how the party establishment will take it, that doesn’t work with Trump still around. We’ve already seen what he could do to people like Liz Cheney, Justin Amash, Flake etc. House rep Kinzinger gave up on running just this week over Trump comments. When he dies or completely alienates his base, things will probably go back to normal though.

This is a big win for Republicans, back to grifting as usual. The sad part is that there are still some naive/dumb enough to support these candidates, to support the republican party. Youngkin is a rancid whore who won't even rise to a DeSantis level of phoniness. Virginia has lost big today, but the Republican machine itself has won a huge victory. Now they get rubes to trust elections again, at least somewhat, and get them back involved with the gay fake machine instead of aiming for alternatives.
It really is pathetic. The RNC pretty much just saw how talking about CRT all the time polled really well for them so it became their silver bullet to help defeat the Dems here. I doubt most of the Repubs talking about CRT even understand what sort of dumbassery it even is, instead it's just a random buzzword for most of the elites.

Trump does still have an effect on Republican politics, but my issue is I don't think establishment Republicans believe he has a positive effect for them. Lot of them even seemed to sperg out when Trump merely endorsed Youngkin as though it'd torpedo his campaign to have one of the most popular figures in their party endorsing him. I think part of this comes from how most people seem blissfully unaware of what Trump or his buddies have been up to, so even the pro-Trump people can't come up with rebuttals to those suggesting the party move on from the populists and instead embrace people like JD Vance.

At the moment JD Vance doesn’t look like he’s going to win his primary, let alone the election. The front runner is the Jew Treasurer who backed trump on election fraud. Double edged sword and all that.

The opposition politics were HEAVILY oriented around Trump’s person itself, which becomes ineffective at best if Trump is not in fact in power.
Very interesting point. It occurs to me that the Democrats' recent political strategy is heavily based on cults of personality - either positive or negative. Trump was basically the anti-Obama. Obama was worshiped as a messiah figure while Trump was abhorred as a devil. Policy is really of secondary importance to the Dems, the important thing is having a personality that can embody what they support or oppose.

"THIS ORANFE MAN PREZ SUCKS!! He's the worst...Ever!!"
>Public buys it up.
>Joe Biden comes in and does a million times worse.

People can be dumb, but not that dumb. Democrats could have held if CRT didn't plague the education circles, despite the Afgan legendary fuckup.

All they legit had to do was say "EH... white people ok."

Just read through 30+ pages. What a time to be alive. I'm going to reiterate that the Democrats now need, need to pass those big spending bills in order to staunch the bleeding... But I don't think they have any sort of pressure they can apply now. No huge chunk of political capital they can spend. One way or another, the Biden mandate as it was is dead.

This was the final death blow to any sort of possible capital they could have. No way is Manchin, a senator from West Virginia, going to sign off on anything after his states more liberal sister just went -red-.

I'm leery on both Vance and Mandel; they're likely both Pop. Inc. (but who isn't these days?) Mandel was a staunch Romneyite during the former Governor's 2012 run, and posts cushy boomer shit on Twitter. Redpill me more on Vance though.

Both are better than that woman, Jane Tinden, who Noem endorsed lmao.

Yo what happened with nj elections and have Virginia elections been declared or they are still "counting" ballots?

He is still in Scotland at the moment
Earlier in the week, Pelosi said Dems needed to pass the Big Bills before Brandon got home so as not to “embarrass the President while overseas”. Now Brandon comes home to no BBB, no Infrastructure Bill, no hope of a deal with Manchin, lost everything in VA races, and GOP is in a dead heat for NJ Gov.

What an embarrassment!

Any Minneapolis people are probably sleeping well tight knowing they still have a police department...for now.
Meh. They still passed rent control, so the downward spiral to rock bottom continues. But now have a strong mayor system, which is good. Still no regerts about leaving that shithole behind.

IMO more interesting is troon city council member Phillipe Cunningham getting its teeth kicked in by a presumed sheboon by the name of LaTrisha.

NJ is gonna go to Murphy. Already basically tied but two blue counties still have 10% left to report according to politico and 8 days left to shove in as many mail in ballots as they want.

Camden and Essex (Newark) counties are at 88% and 90% respectively on this map. Mercer county (Trenton) at 95%.

Right now she's basically in power as speaker solely because she is the only thing keeping the Progressives from fucking EVERYTHING up and creating carnage in the House. Her ability to tolerate AOC is hinged entirely on the fact that Nancy's rivals (most notably Maxine Waters) are already plotting to take the Speakership the second Pelosi retires, and that AOC's fellow antisemite squadmates are 100% team Maxine whereas AOC knows damn well that if Nancy's on the way out the door, she'll make damn sure that AOC dies screaming in flames and her career destroyed as payback for her part in the Justice Democrats fucking Nancy's heir over and has to play nice-nice and try and keep Maxine and her ilk and the other antisemite squadsters under control to Nancy's liking.

Maxine Waters? Really?

Genuine question, but does Waters have a legitimate chance of getting the speaker seat because the woman is a nutjob.

Pelosi might be the most despised politician in america right now, but at least she seems to be living in this reality. Waters and the squad people might be good for twitter politics and for some to feel good about having people "fight for the little guy", even if nobody really wants to see their politics enacted.

When push comes to shove, people will want a Pelosi instead of a Waters, which brings the question, the democrats have no one else?

I find amazing that the democrats just can't get a name out of the ground and are relying on old people at the death's door to keep shit held up, yeah the justice democrats are a pain in the ass for them, but non of the younger generation has any presence for a realistic management of their party?

Oh shit I didn't think about Manchin. What happen in Virginia last night is going to most likely help keep his stance on bills.

Still a very close race for a state that should have been 20+ dem the night it began.

I would not feel easy if I was a Democrat. Murphy should not be winning this small of a margin. It shouldn't even be close, but it is.
