Welp, it's been less than a week since the workplace vax survey was sent out. Yesterday I received an email sent to all staff that we are all getting a substantial raise. Not pennies per hour, but dollars.
I think they got a lot of "fuck this, I'm out" responses (like mine) and are prepping the carrot in advance of the stick. This company is known for low pay for what some consider high stress (not me, I love it) and trying to wrestle raises higher than $0.25 every six months has been a bone of contention for as long as reviews on Glassdoor have been a thing.
Unless I get in writing that I will never have to return to the office during my employment, I stand by my decision. And even then I would still probably just get terminated. The only reason I have this lower-paid position is the working from home aspect (taking buses in WI winters SUCKS, folks) and I would HATE to lose this comfy gig for that reason and it's a big one.
I can only hope that they are in a wait-and-see holding pattern before mandating anything. Sad that I have to worry about their motivations rather than be thrilled about the raise.
