Elden Ring

What's the point of promoting this as a collaboration with George RR Martin when literally everything about it looks like From Software's standard dark fantasy worldbuilding? Even the name is gay. Just call that shit Dark Souls 4.
It looks nothing like any Dark Souls game I've ever played besides maybe 2. I don't know if you have a hard time telling genre apart or something, but this is the most high fantasy game I've seen in a very long time. It reminds me of some of Martin's short stories.

Yeah, besides the dragons, the Lovecraftian monsters, the gothic castles decorated with graves, dead trees, lit braziers, and smashable boxes and barrels; the dimly-lim, cobweb-filled crypts and dungeons that you illuminate by holding a torch; the shuffling skeleton and quasi-zombie enemies, the more powerful shield-bearing enemies that slowly walk towards you, the phantoms, the fog doors, and the dismal gray skies, it doesn't look anything like DS at all. Okay.

By your standard Oblivion is dark fantasy.

The little mario hops seem kinda goofy to me, but soulsbourne series animations aren't exactly the best anyways.

The only real criticism I have right now is that jump looks janky and doesn't look like adds anything to the combat.

Still haven't played Sekiro but I'm lukewarm about this. It looks almost exactly like Dark Souls 3 and from the snippets seems equally inane. Unless it's a console exclusive I will probably get it on steam sale. I would be more hyped for Bloodborne 2 or a signigntly different setting/aesthetic.

The jump appears to be more of a quality of life thing from what I've seen compared to how sekiro made it one of the gameplay pillars. See a fence and dont wanna go all the way around to the gate? Just jump over it. Shit like that.

That enemy death sound.

Does look like they took everything from all the games and added elements to it. Sekiro is pretty good, if not hard as hell. Quite vertical and has an element of "open world", even if it's tunneling you in a direction. This looks ok, but maybe not as good regarding vertical design wise as Sekiro.

What part of this is unique? Like it looks like another Souls game, which is fine, but wasn't this meant to be the unique star-wonder child injected with Martin's legendary seed? What'd he do? Design an enemy?

Literally just gender swapped Ardyn from 15

This is exactly it. It's an open world Souls game reusing a ton of shit we've already seen before, in a way that's been presented at least four times by this point.

That won't make the game bad or unenjoyable, but I don't get why people are jizzing over it right now. If nothing else the gameplay footage lowered expectations to a more realistic level.

The defense patrol is insane on Steam forums. Any legitimate criticism is called bait and honestly it might as well be given how easy it is to rile them up.
