Well over 90% of cases end in pleas. Maybe he learned his lesson from the disaster of actually taking a case where he videotaped himself committing the crime to trial. I hope not though.

I don't even think it's virtue signaling. I think Baked finally just inflicted a bunch of butthurt on people able to do something about it and they're seeking revenge. I think when that prosecutor had to pore through all of Baked's insufferable videos, he saw this Chhhhhhanukah sign thing and sent it straight to Phoenix.

If Baked is lucky, this is the only one of his many other dumb crimes on video that he gets prosecuted for. Most of them are trivial bullshit but if they felt like it, they could probably shower him with at least a dozen more in other places.

I'm not sure how hate crimes would be noted. They don't charge you with "Hate Crime Third Degree." It isn't a stand-alone crime. It's a sentence enhancer for when you commit some other crime. Still, whether or not this has the hate crime enhancement, it is pretty minor shit. I don't know if the two counts are about separate crimes, but max, he'd get five months for both (four months for the 2M and one for the 3M), and more likely less even with the enhancement (if there is one).

It's certainly the kind of bias motivated act that would draw that kind of action.

It doesn't even have to be "hate," which can't even really be proved short of an explicit admission. The crime just has to have been motivated, in whole or in part, by bias against a protected group. At least by the strict legal definition, everyone belongs to a protected group, because everyone has a race, religion, national origin, etc.
