The fact that she's not dead suggests it's a mosaic trisomy. They can be tough to diagnose.

I read an article earlier this week about how all case reports of "full" trisomy 9 are probably actually mosaic cases in which all of the cells tested happened to be abnormal. I tried to find it again but haven't had luck yet, but it was interesting reading and certainly provided food for thought. For various reasons, a lot of these social media Warrior Mamas are very invested in their kid having the Worst Thing with the most dismal prognosis, and they are super quick to claim a full aneuploidy so that their "miracle" seems more legitimate. In reality, almost all of the fetuses with these kind of diagnoses that manage to survive to term, much less beyond, are likely mosaics.

A visit to Dr. Google also said that a large percentage of people who live to birth with trisomy 9 not only have mosaicism, but they also do not have a full trisomy, in that the third 9th chromosome is actually just a section that broke off.

I'm not a nurse, but IV infiltration doesn't blow up your whole body and you can typically feel an infiltrated IV when you touch the site. And the IV pump won't run. The tissue surrounding the vein is just too dense for fluid to pump in. Five bags, or five liters of fluid for a little guy in two days? X to doubt.

Eagerly awaiting what the nurses around here have to say, but sounds like lies.

Another cool thing I found looking at aneploidies is that it is possible for living humans to have mosaic triploid and tetraploid cells.

Seems to be only possble in fibroblasts in the skin. Results in visible striping on the person's skin. The cases I found all had developmental disabilities and were pretty retarded. I can't recall if they took fibroblasts from anywhere else.

Like, I didn't think either were viable human cells at all. Triploid means that instead of two pairs of 23, you have triples of everything. Tetraploid means you have four copies of every single chromosome. My only guess is that since some fibroblasts can be 'inactive', those that can survive as tetra or tri have to be in this state. May explain the disabilities if any cell with this just yeets out of existence immediately (a defect in fibroblast function would cause just a mirad of disabilities).

The Frost kids I brought up out of curiosity and interest in the disorder, not because mom was a cow. The initial diagnosis for the first child was only made AFTER they had the 2nd child. At the time they became pregnant with the 2nd child, the symptoms had just started for the first child. It was only after diagnosis of the first child that the 2nd child was able to be diagnosed. They are a very nice family IMO.
(and also recent victims of ChronicallyRara who used the Frost family and another family on tiktok to raise funds for herself)

and the other correction:

(Mother has gotten EDS diagnosis for children to get them unneeded surgeries)

They never even had an official EDS diagnosis, that test came back negative. Mom went to 3 different doctors until she found one who would operate for chiari I on the younger daughter, then did it again to the older daughter. Both kids suffered a host of complications from the likely unnecessary surgeries.

I'm very late with this, sorry, but I just looked this kid up because his surname made me curious. Based on that and where the family is from, I'm wondering if they have some Mennonite ancestry. The Amish and Mennonites, like other isolated populations, are prone to a host of genetic disorders not commonly seen elsewhere.

Yeah I would think those conditions they would be.

One thing about Sarah St. Onge is that she's a prolife hardliner who doesn't just try and pressure women to keep non viable pregnancies, she thinks legally abortion shouldnt even be an option in any circumstances. A lot of the other doomed spud parents are other flavors of prolife, like the Buells. Same with the SA zombaby parents, which could use a shout out (at least Dan Lirette) since that's basically the ancient ancestor of that thread.

Those are the kids who truly benefit from an IEP! They may look strange but they are sentient and of normal intelligence, they just need a little help.
