MCU Television and Animation Series on Disney + - WandaVision, FATWS, Loki, etc

This weeks episode felt so lazy.

From last week's cliffhanger I was wondering how Ultron would get all the stones, turns out Thanos just shows up with all of them in hand minus Mind and then dies in 5 seconds. That was so dumb. Entire episode felt like a wasted idea. Why not spend a couple of minutes showing a cool montage of Ultron waging war against space and slowly conjuring up his plan as he collects the stones. Maybe have him talk a little about how he came to the conclusion that all life needs to be destroyed, not just earth's or something.

Ultron almost feels like a different character, he was way more philosophical and talky in Age of Ultron, in this he's very Skynet serious all the way and talks very little. They have some rando voicing him instead of James Spader, so all the charm is gone too.

The "Black Widow and Hawkeye are just ppl with guns" thing is as worse as it gets in this episode. For some reason they are their universe's last hope against Ultron, keep in mind the dude is single handedly killing celestials, blowing up solar systems and kicking the Watcher's ass.
I like the idea of Ultron taking his time with killing everything one by one. I do agree the moment where Vision instantly kills Thanos was stupid though, Pretty much makes everybody in infinity war look like an idiot for trying to hold him back from fighting.

I did see a bit of James Spader in the performance, especially when he called the watcher creepy for watching everyone. I am very disappointed with how they didn't actually get James, mans a pro, but the new guy does an alright job.

I actually dug how they handled hawkeye and widow, was nice to see em pushed to their limits. Giving her the red guardians shield was fanwanky but ill allow it.

Liked the fights, a mostly solid episode in my book. Im not going to overthink the lore, just want to see some decent storytelling.

I thought the season final was pretty lame all around. The show has some high points, but I felt they blew their load too quickly. It probably would have been better if that version of Ultron had more development over the series and a big multiverse threat was a series finale, or maybe even a larger event than just one episode when there's more multiverse characters to choose from. But regardless, I think the multiverse being broken and solved this quickly is probably going to make future multiverse-threats less urgent. If they already solved one, what kind of problem would Kang pose? Maybe they'll find something interesting there. The one thing I like about the show is when they try to explore the more tragic side of its heroes, like in the Doctor Strange episode or if they did straight comedy like the Thor episode. But episodes like this or the Guardians of the Galaxy episode, or the Kilmonger one just feel one note.

"What If... Captain Carter Were the First Avenger?"
Just a rehash where the compress Captin America in 20 minutes instead of 2-hour movie. I mean they did a good job retelling the story in the time they did, but really doesn't live up to the idea of the show at all. Also, Sebastian Stan does not give a fuck in his acting here.

What If... T'Challa Became a Star-Lord?
This one just sucks T'Challa dick way too much, that coupled with the humor being painful unfunny makes it bad. The story idea its self is good however just badly done.

What If... the World Lost Its Mightiest Heroes?
This one cut down the comedy and was better for it, however does have a storytelling issue. much of it felt rushed and it's a mystery that felt underdeveloped, really need a longer running time. But some fun action and deaths.

What If... Doctor Strange Lost His Heart Instead of His Hands?
This may be my favorite thing in the MCU. It never had to juggle a number of characters and thankful the writers were willing to keep out any of the awful comedy in this one, so what we get is some really good character work. It's pretty sad when a 30-minute cartoon gives more depth to him as a character than his own solo movie.

What If... Zombies?!
It was alright, but the unfunny writing of past episodes is back again. Felt more like Marvel Zombies was something they had to do rather than something they want to do. Really is a mess in many areas such as who is meant to be the main point of view for the episode, is the Hulk, the Wasp or someone else. When you only got 30 minutes, really need to stick with one.

What If... Killmonger Rescued Tony Stark?
It was fine, did rehash parts of past movies, but did go in a different way once it did. Michael B. Jordan voice acting is pretty bad in this.

What If... Thor Were an Only Child?
Comedy didn't work for me, so I found this one a hard watch, Also everyone came across as the biggest dumb asses in this one, maybe they were all born with extra chromosomes in this dimension.

What If... Ultron Won?
I enjoyed much of Ultron and Watcher part, but Hawkeye and Black Widow were dull, and it felt like their presents in this episode was more to do with they didn't have a large role in the past ones rather than them being good fits for this episode.

What If... the Watcher Broke His Oath?
I don't think they really needed a story arc for the series and it would have been better if everything was stand alone, but guess it was alright. Everyone gets a kind of a happy ending. The only bad thing that stands out is clearly Gamora had an episode planned which had. to delay or cancel for some reason.

The show was fine overall, just a missed opportunity that plays it safe most of the time, and its true best parts is when it doesn't play it safe.

The only one I am here for is She Hulk. Tatiana proved she can play a dozen different characters in one television show. She can play Jen. The writing on the other hand coupled with the CGI and Mark Ruffalo's bad acting leaves the possibility of a shitshow. She better break the fourth wall though.

Out of all of these the only ones I'm not really looking forward to (as in I have no investment in) are Echo, Iron Heart and Secret Invasion. The rest range from kind of hyped to "yeah sure I'll watch that". She Hulk being described as "Boston Legal" via some leaks has definitely made it shoot up my list.

Hawkeye premiered and it was decent. The dialogue becomes a bit too quippy, specifically with Kate, and a lot of the plot for the first episode seems to hinge on Kate being in the right place at the right time but overall I liked the first two episodes. They've managed to split screen time between Kate and Clint pretty well so far and I like Kate herself well enough. Tony Dalton as Swordsman was an inspired bit of casting and he's been great so far, hopefully they don't make him an outright villain. Hopefully the show doesn't fall apart like all the other Disney+ ones have.

No sign of Kingpin so far, unfortunately.

I thought it was OK too. I'm happy Kate and Clint are both able to get equally amount of screen time. I'm also happy that Kate isn't some feminist "men suck" character. It was really funny how she geek out at first meeting Clint.
I agree I hope Swordsman doesn't become a straight out villain.

Also I loved Clint's reaction to that crappy avengers play he was at.

Yeah I think Jack's a bit too on the nose to be a bad guy. He actually reminds me of how Will Ferrell plays Ron Burgundy.

Yeah he's way to obvious. It would be a nice twist if it turns out he's not a bad guy or he did kill his father but only because he really does love her mom type of twist.

Only watched the first episode so far. Thoughts:

-The direction in the episode was weird, especially in the timing of events. I don't know how to really explain it, but one example is when Baby Kate was watching the attack on New York for like a solid two minutes before her mom appears from the next room to grab her. It shouldn't have taken the mom that long to find her, especially since Kate was running around screaming right before then. It also happened during the auction scene where everybody else seems to freeze in place and wait for Kate to react. I dunno, it felt like the director had the beats of the scene, but didn't know how to shoot it to make it flow properly. (unsurprisingly, none of the show's directors have any real experience shooting action shows/dramas)

-Kate straight up overpowering Russian mobsters was laughable. I don't care if Katie Sue is a karate master, she's not strong enough to stop a punch from a grown-ass man.

-I understand why Kate dressed like Eliot Page to go to her mother's party, but I don't believe even a defiant little girl would have fashion sense that fucking poor. (yes, I also understand the plot convenience of her dressing just like the waitstaff, but come the fuck on..)

-Hopefully Kate's sassy black friends are gone for good.

Overall, it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. Might've been better with a shorter runtime and tighter storytelling. Feeling the Netflix bloat on this one.

I don't think Kate is a Mary Sue. She is showing to be very flawed. Granted you haven't watch the second episode.

I think there's a plot underway regarding money. The dad disappears right after an argument about having to pay for stuff? Yeah, bit sus. There's also the comment from Kate's mum to her about Kate always having been rich which unless I'm reading into it the wrong way would imply that the mum married into money. If the dad didn't want to sell the place to get money, his life insurance would be the next best thing to keep Kate and her mum afloat.

I recall hearing that Kate is absolutely insufferable in the comics, being better than Hawkeye most of the time and generally resenting/hating Hawkeye and hating all association with him. Making him her idol and inspiration instead, and Kate very visibly the 'annoying child sidekick Clint has been saddled with' was a much better choice for the show. That said, the show still has the whole arc where Natasha's sister is hired by Madame Hydra to try to kill him to get through, so they have plenty of room to ruin it still.

Initially I didn't realize Clint's oldest son was his son and spent the first fifteen minutes or so afraid to find out that Hawkeye's time as Ronin turned him gay.

I was completely ready to cringe at Kate being some girlboss that outshines Clint but they've handled it well so far. Kate's talented but Clint's obviously much more experienced and her superior, especially in fighting.

I'm hesitant about the Black Widow stuff. The show's only six episodes long, so shoving in some revenge quest for Yelena might be overstuffing it.

Yeah with Echo, Yelena and potentially Kingpin it could very much be juggling too much. Not to mention Clown too. Granted there are four episodes left so it could be one per character.
