I suppose that’s possible. Still a hung trial is a good outcome no? If double jeopardy still applies? Or am I ignorant of some legal nuance?
Hung jury gets another go by prosecution. It's certainly better than a guilty verdict and hopefully the bag of dirty tricks is exhausted. but it's not a total win.

No, if there's a hung jury, he can be retried at the judge and DA's discretion.
Okay, doesn’t that go against the principal you can’t be retried for the same crime?

A mistrial (without prejudice) can be re-tried. The question is, does the state want to?

They were offered exactly that from the defense today, and the state argued against it. Which I take to mean the Pros thinks it's now or never.

This completely goes against the point of requiring a unanimous jury decision for murder trials. It is supposed to be difficult to acquit or convict in a murder trial because one way or another someone has died, and the decision decides the fate of a second person's life. What should be done, if anything, is auto-sequester all juries in potentially politically charged trials like this the entirety of the trial, no internet, no tv, just vidya games and movies to entertain them with. Protests that deal with the jury's decision should also be forced to be held out of earshot of the courthouse. Normally I wouldn't approve of 'designated protest areas', but given we've come to a point where political parties try to use protests to intimidate jurors into ruling a certain way, it is the most reasonable response.
Juries are an outdated idea IMO. The age of mass media and hyperpolarization mean that most jurors are going into cases with deeply held biases. I’d rather judges be directly accountable for decisions made in their courts.

Are they just dragging this out for theatre at this point?

The idea is technically it's still the same trial. You were never declared not guilty.
There's some supreme court weirdness that supposedly goes against this idea, but I don't know the details.

It is bizarre they didn't take the mistrial with Binger not too long ago pushing hard to throw it into one.

Judges are just as biased, jurors only become a problem normally when there is a bit more media attention towards a certain case, but even your local drug dealer can give a reasonable threat.

I think he's using the mistrial as insurance against guilty and he'll never actually use it.
This is probably the case. If he doesn't believe the jury will vote guilty then declaring a mistrial prevents the possibility of the jury returning 'not guilty'. A hung jury would be the same as a mistrial without prejudice anyway, and so there's really no point in the judge doing anything. People are melting down because the judge isn't intervening before the worst and least likely result occurs. He may be justified in pre-empting the jury, but there is really no difference between declaring a mistrial now and declaring a mistrial after a guilty verdict, so why not provide the possibility of a not-guilty verdict first?

I am curious about whats the hold up

Are all the extra tacked on charges confusing the jury. I mean if you find the 1st charge as self-defense that must logically mean all the others are as well.

So it's my guess that they're still trying to determine if the 1st shooting was indeed in self-defense.

I'm sticking with my poll choice...Kyle is royally fucked. If the jury was inclined towards self defense it wouldn't take this long. No, they're picking away at the lesser charges which means most likely Kyle is going to jail for at least 15 years.

Poor kid..his whole life gone because some dumb ass DA wants to virtue signal.

Judges are also equally, if not more, as likely to be biased when their careers are at stake or they were only appointed for political purposes in the first place.

I hate to admit it, but the doomposters seem to be pretty vindicated right now. The judge said right before he sent the jury off, that if the first shooting was justified self-defense, the rest are as well. They've been deliberating for 2 days now, which means either they think the nigga is guilty and are figuring out the exact charges they're gonna hit him with, or the jury is split and they can't come to an agreement. So either we're gonna get a hung jury, or guilty on at least some charges.

Jury deliberations are not designed for live threads following them. Go do something more productive with your time instead of popping pills over every little thing that happens.
But it does make you wish for videos in there.
They are gonna do the most pussy thing imaginable to try and (futilely) save their ass and convict on just one murder.
But even one murder means Kyle is screwed for life and the leftists dance.
