Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Yup. The state of Virginia is very divided, and the rural schools were open months and months before everyone else because Northam didn't grab the wheel that hard and still left a lot of it up to the local counties (although there's a statewide mask mandate now).

Youngkin was nominated as a middle-of-the-pack candidate between obviously GOPe figures and Trumpist candidates like Amanda Chase. That made it difficult for McAuliffe to nail him down and define him, and that same quality gives him maneuverability to make a big tent of Virginians who mostly want to be left alone. I think it's mostly the right tack for the state, but we'll see what actually happens once in office. His hand could be forced if the mandates become an issue, or he could be reserving his power for where he'll really need it: education.

If Youngkin governs decently, cleans up education and keeps COVID policy sensible, then his AG or Lieutenant Governor will be in a good position for the next run in 2025. And Winsome Sears is dyed-in-the-wool conservative. But you can't run someone like her in Virginia without accruing capital and goodwill first, which the GOP has not had in the state for a long time.

Personally, I agree far more with DeSantis that it being the United STATES gives the governor greater latitude to protect everyone from overreach, which the mandates are. But there's no sense forcing it to be an issue when it so far has not been in the state. That keeps the powder dry to fight the federal mandate as well.

I say we should withdraw all military support to Germany and let Turkey overtake it if it means they get to finish the job against the -ians. Let them carpet bomb Glendale and they'd probably get 80% of the remaining Armenians.

Edit in regards to the Death Penalty shit: I don't support it anymore after the Rittenhouse trial showed how fucking evil prosecutors are, but blue states refusing to sell execution drugs is hilarious to me. Why don't red states just say "ok, we'll use rope". What the fuck are they gonna do, call it mean or cruel and unusual? Our best ally in Asia still hangs people publicly for capital crimes. If they're concerned about pain well then fine, we'll put them in the drown house from Mario 64 then drop it out of a plane like a fucking Oney hypothetical.

O'Connor said in 2019 that there were no serious threats to Biden’s health and his past medical conditions were under control.

6 months ago I told people to compare him with himself 6 months prior too. And now 6 months later he is visibly even worse.


Mid term campaigning starts in ~6 weeks. They want Biden to go and support their candidates? Just fucking extrapolate, how much worse will he be in 6-9 months when the campaigns are in full swing.

McCarthy actually set a new speech length record tonight, he beat Pelosi's record from 2018.

Also, is it just me or have House Democrats been particularly fucking unhinged about this? I feel like McCarthy getting on the podium and delaying the vote by 12 hours drove them much crazier than it really should've.
