There's value in eliminating cash bail in most cases. Outside of white-collar criminals who could make a financial calculation that running is a net economic benefit, cash bail doesn't do shit to protect people other than the statistical correlation that poor people are more likely to jump bail or reoffend. If you set a high bail, all you're doing is funneling money to the bail bond industry. People who can barely afford it but would otherwise abide hurt financially. People who are officially poor can't pay it, except for the ones with friends who have ill-gotten funds who can pay out a lot, so you still get people out on bond who can do damage.

Bail should only exist for rich people for whom money is actually an incentive, and where they actually put up the whole bond -- a large percentage of their net worth -- themselves so they have skin in the game. Gangsters who steal money don't care, they just have a friend knock over a liquor store and pay a bond agency 10% as a "get out of jail" fee. Nobody wins except the bail bond companies. Set the bail super high and all you're saying is that they should stay in jail unless they have a drug cartel friend or a woke hollywood elite who feels bad for them.

In a sane system there should be a calculation based on the actual flight and reoffense risk of the individual. This actually works. The problem is that woke people complain that the algorithms are "racist" so they err heavily on the side of letting people go free based on melanin content, and the solution no longer works.

Pictures of the vehicle show only him in it, in a situation like this one the cops could have been assuming multiple suspects because of all the confusion happening at the time. Right now I think they’re looking just at Brooks as the person involved.

This seems like an impulsive reaction to the Rittenhouse trial, usually the big terrorist acts that have manifestos are calm, cold, and calculated and are planned weeks/months in advance. Those people aren't acting in an emotional response. This happened two days after Kyle was acquitted and the driver was openly talking about how angry he was about it on Facebook.
