If her plan is to wait for the Dems to go back to the real center, that won't work in the same way that waiting for the Whigs to beat out the Republican party didn't work out for the Whigs. She ran for Governor in Georgia during the trump years with massive DNC support as part of a drive to permanently flip Georgia blue only to get cockblocked HARD by the GOP governor, who implemented some of the most hardcore Voter ID laws in the country to block the DNC from rigging the election (as Georgia was going to be the test run for stealing the Presidency in 2020).
Abrams lost the governorship but screeched like a banshee that she was robbed/her opponent "cheated" and has since decided to spend the DNC resources available to her to continue to try and fck with Georgia, culminating in leading boycotts against the state from Hollywood and MLB, culminating in the PR nightmae of Major League Baseball moving the All Star Game from Atlanta because of her meddling, fucking over the economy of the city as a result.
As for why she wasn't made VP, I have to think the bitch has a huge amount of skeletons in her closet that haven't made their way to the light of day and Biden's people were fearful they would sink the ticket if and when they came out.

Congressional Democrats are in a position where the radical left wants radical paradigm shifting change, moderates and normies just want a return to the 2009-2013 status quo, and the Corporations want to kill anything that changes the current status quo since they are profiting quite nicely off the madness gripping the country.
At this point, Democrats in Congress KNOW 2022 is going to be a reckoning the likes of which they've never seen before and that the absolute worst case scenario is that the GOP get a decent size majority in the House that allows them to go back to the days of the Hassert Rule (where the GOP would only bring items to the floor for a vote if they can guarantee that the GOP can pass it without a single Democrat vote) and them having a decent enough majority in the Senate so that, while not a super majority, is enough that they can get shit passed with a comfortable margin that allows them to allow one or more GOP Senators to vote no and it still gets passed without a single Democrat vote.
At this point, you are seeing three things: one is a lot of Democrats are retiring and getting their post-Congressional lobbyist gigs lined up so they can exit and not have to deal with the aftermath of 2022. The second is that you have those who see the writing on the wall, wanting to push through as much shit as they can get passed through in the remaining time they have left before said reckoning because after 2022, it's probably going to be a decade or two before the Democrats have a majority in Congress of any kind. Finally, you have the Democrats in safe districts but who are not drinking the anti-life kool aid that basically have given up and are going to brace for impact when the reckoning happens and when/if they survive, be all about themselves and their districts and fuck the big picture as far as giving up trying and only being out for themselves and what can get them re-elected.

Abrams broke the requirement of being legally clean. Her actions in Georgia often involved toeing the line to an extreme extent and nobody would be surprised to find out she crossed it. The last thing the Cabal wanted was a repeat of "those damn emails". Even not knowing if there was anything actually on the emails, the image of impropriety was enough to seriously damage Clinton's bid for the presidency. An encore performance would have only ever been worse.
So anyone who even skirted the law was straight out as an option, let alone with a high probability to have crossed it like Abrams.

I honestly think they want to at this point. They are fucking up so badly that they need a reason why they can't fix anything. Blaming it on Republicans blocking them might work out better for them. "Oh, we could have gotten out of this pandemic so much sooner -- but the Republicans voted 'no' on the XYZ bill" or "If only we could have gotten the ABC bill passed, we could have avoided this economic downturn". They don't really have any actual solutions, so maybe that really is the best strategy for them.
