You know what? I more than agree with you, that is bullshit.
I honestly couldn't tell you why, but Disney will never fucking acknowledge Song of the South ever again, even though anybody who has actually seen it (including both of us, I believe I can correctly assume) would tell you that there was literally nothing racist about that movie.
To the people who have never actually seen Song of the South, but have nevertheless heard that it was a racist film... No, Uncle Remus was not a slave, not even in the context of the movie. His literal only 'crime' (which wasn't even a crime back then, and obviously shouldn't fucking be one now...) was being a black man who played a major role in a Disney film that came out in the mid 40's.
James Baskett, the man who played Uncle Remus, literally won a fucking Oscar for the role... He was the first black man to ever win one, and frankly he deserved it. - And this was *many* decades before Hollywood first got pozzed.
Despite canceling the film years after the fact, Disney have still made a shit ton of money from the Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah song alone. I somehow had
this VHS growing up, (even though it's apparently several years older than I even am... It still came out several decades after Song of the South originally did.) I couldn't even tell you how many times I watched it when I was little... But it was a lot of times.
This is only slightly related, but IIRC over the years, the left have also been especially shitty to Hattie McDaniel, the first black woman (and actually the first African-American in general) to ever win an Oscar. It's almost like the leftists in the US are actually the racist ones...
