It's pretty much a given that anyone who makes their personal hatred of CP/Lolicon the only personality trait they have, they are pretty much an actual pedo trying to hide their own skeletons. You pretty much hit the nail on the head about how most of these "people" conduct themselves online. I'd rather deal with open degenerates who like loli hentai rather than covert degenerates who pretend to be upstanding, moral citizens.
Also speaking from my own experiences, yaoi fangirls tend to be really the worst in anime spaces due to how toxic and degenerate they can be. People sort of give them a pass because they're female, but over the years they've become more aware that people see them as creeps and in turn try to pass themselves off as LGBT activists. They will shit on male anime fans because some of them happen to like loli, but are usually strangely quiet about shota which in fact often appears in a fair amount of yaoi/BL content. No joke, they will watch stuff like Toilet-Bound Hanako-Kun and Black Butler without admitting to them being shotabait.

No what happened was there were several subreddits devoted to underage girls and a guy named violentacrez was pretty much the ringleader of it all more or less. It took a collaboration of something awful and cnn (or was it anderson cooper? I forget) before they finally shut them down and even then they were dragging their feet. If I remember right there were leaked pms from other mods expressing sympathy to violentacrez and how 'they had no choice'. Really all it did was just push it underground and out of sight. Reddit is still a haven for those types unfortunately.
Reddit mods being caught with illegal shit is just a Tuesday.

It sucks we can't make threads regarding fandoms like this anymore since it apparently gets infected with fans starting drama with each other.
Back in February, really rabid fans got upset over a Valentine's Day video that the official devs released. The video itself was wholesome, but apparently it contained "disgusting" ships and "whitewashing". There were some fans even trying to boycott and have the video removed for promoting pedophilia somehow.
There were even some people in a fan discord server sperging out about it and the mods had to step in and remind them that talking about ships was against the rules. I chimed in with a comment saying that the video was just innocent and that cookies should love each other. Apparently this was enough to piss some of them off, but since the mods already warned them all they could do was post emojis to express their disgust.
The genders and ages of certain cookies have stumped fans as well. Most of the cookies are usually small in stature and apparently that makes them children I guess. I remember the Cookie Run forum had rules that prohibited people from talking about cookie genders because of certain fans becoming really toxic and obsessive about it. Also because some cookies have chocolate dough or flavoring, fans see them as black people for some reason? An example I can think of is Mint Choco Cookie.
Now I don't know about you, but isn't it kind of racist to think that a cookie made of chocolate is a black person?
I honestly don't care too much about cookie porn, but I propose that people should make more nsfw material of these cookies as a gatekeeping tool. Lately when someone on Twitter whines about how unethical cookie porn is people respond to them by simply saying, "they're just cookies" along with an image of someone eating or crumbling a cookie.
