Everything they all do is such a fucking LARP. Josie acts like he is some hippie mountain man, yet he doesn't even know how to grow some weed? There are endless guides on all the different ways to grow some pot. I figured he, and the rest of the troons, don't really bother growing food because they are lazy and fine with eating frozen shit from Costco. But this makes me think they haven't even bothered to make a few raised beds to grow some easy vegetables during the summer because he straight up doesn't even know how, despite having all the knowledge in the world at his hands, and seemingly endless time.
Right?
Half of them have self diagnosed adhd anyway. Some hyperfocusing and collecting the basics, narrowing it down to what works until you've got a working plan really, really shouldn't be that hard. And I am fucking diagnosed and unmedicated. The amount of notebooks I have with relevant information I keep forgetting but know exactly where I wrote it down? Little instruction manuals basically.
All those damn skills you can teach yourself with the littlest amount of dedication and available tools. Half of it you find instructions for on fucking pinterest even. Those true, actual woman? Kicking your asses on fucking pinterest of all places.
Woodworking, metal working, livestock, gardening, ground improvements, and so on.
My issue to deal with today was bird flu. Did I already plan my chicken coop with that in mind? Yes. Did I realize it won't work without serious stress for them despite the best of intentions? Definitely yes. No plan ever survives contact with the enemy.
Would you ignore the issue, shrug and just hope for the best, knowing those animals of yours are suffering? Hell no. 2 hours later and I have an idea, already picked up second hand things for nothing more than a smile and a short conversation because we're literally in a lockdown but you can still find ways? That don't include amazon? But neighbours and good systems?
There's a reason people out on farms put so much weight into good relations with each other. There the ones you call for help and advice and shit they could have in their barn they don't need but you could.
The second hand market out here in places where people know everything can be used is utterly unreal.. Because people know that you can use everything, even if it means ignoring what it was meant for. Improvise, overcome, adapt.
There's food coops, WhatsApp groups, meeting at the gas station for a beer. Offering your own labor for nothing but a potential favour in the future.
How to grow weed, josie you illiterate imbecile? Sun, warmth, water and hell, if you want to be fancy you can control pH too (5.8 to 6.2 on both water and fertilizer) and watering temperature (20c). Fertiliser? Throw some fresh kitchen garbage meant for compost into the hole before you plant, done. Go bigger than you think. Add some organic, produce fertiliser when you see deficiency. Could make it yourself so easily, but that's a step too far for our geniuses. Water whenever they look like they need it. Check for pests and mildew (shake water off after rainfalls, it can be so simple) occasionally. Make adjustments according to your local weather, ground and area. Done.
In pots? Same story. Will likely need more fertiliser over the course though. Also water until you've got run off coming out at the bottom to avoid fertiliser mineral composites collecting and poisoning them. You'll likely need to water more, because pots are shit at keeping it. Or cover the earth to keep the water from evaporating too quickly. Moss and stuff is great. Keeps water too. Adjust to your area. (brown pots, not black ones, depending on your area and sun strength! They like warm roots, but don't like the whole being boiled alive thing.)
Hydroponics? You need a few water barrels to build, fertilizer is a price step up and you'll need specific ones to not clog up your systems. Which you can build yourself! Or you go hydroponic fish farm. Not even a need for fertilizer, just a pump depending on your set up. Grow your own fish in the meantime. Sell, or eat.
The laziness is astounding. The amount of things other people would've learned in those two years living on a farm.. The connections you could've made.. The produce you could already grown at this point, saved, sold and the shit you could get done with that amount of "man" power. Not to even mention the strides towards organic self sufficiency they could have taken.
Which at this point is not applicable in any way. At all. They are not self sufficient, nor are they working towards it, they are also not organic, and they are most certainly not frugal.
It's all e-begging for soap starter kits on fucking amazon, instead of just putting any effort in it and considering how they could make it work anyway.
I do all that shit by myself and I am angered because I can't get more done in a day and simply do not have the energy. Just the amount of muscle I've put on in three years of this.. And still I don't have to put any work into looking like a woman either. As if it came natural.
