US Joe Biden News Megathread - The Other Biden Derangement Syndrome Thread (with a side order of Fauci Derangement Syndrome)

Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Well I'm kind of hoping with all the people moving to North Carolina that it helps get him out
This is Coopers second term as governor, so he can't actually run again. He still has three more years though.

I have lots of opinions on how NC is changing with the flood of Californians but can't go into it too much without power leveling. The red rural towns are slowly dying but there's still pockets left.

For today's Congress drama, the GOP is currently trying to paint Dems as being disunited I guess.

To start off: every year the Senate needs to pass a defense policy bill annually. This is known as the NDAA. In normal years this would've been passed a while ago and nobody would be fighting over it, but 2021 is not a normal year. In fact the US's allies are actually worried we're going to fail to pass a NDAA for 2022.

This year, the NDAA is being stuffed full of amendments. Republicans wrote half of them. There appears to have been a bit of a breakdown in talks however because 1) McConnell wants an amendment relating to Nord Stream 2 added, and 2) Schumer needs 10 Repubs to defect so he can ignore McConnell. Nord Stream 2 has been a bit of a thorn in the ass for Biden's administration, because the 2020 NDAA was supposed to implement mandatory sanctions on the pipeline and that passed with bipartisan approval. Biden's admin has refused to implement these sanctions.

The GOP's intent is to force Dems to have to vote on an amendment regarding Nord Stream 2. And, more specifically, they want Congress Dems to approve the amendment and go on record saying 'we disagree with Biden refusing to implement sanctions". McConnell's toying with them right now. Unless Schumer and Pelosi start pulling strings they're probably going to be caught in a tongue twister.
Hilarious side note. If the 2022 NDAA fails, Israel will be the only foreign country with assured military aid thanks to AOC/the squads backfired attempt to block funding for Iron Dome, causing it to be its own bill that passed instead of that funding being rolled into BBB or NDAA as originally planned. If they hadn't caused a fuss, Israel would be sweating bullets now.

Alternatively, by having it separated out they all now have to worry about it not passing. There is no way that the Republicans would have stopped NDAA if the Iron Dome funding was in it. I am far from a "THE JEWS!" conspiracy believer, but we simply have too much invested in Israel to ever allow that to -not- pass. But with it already done separately... there is a lot less in it that is super entrenched beyond the usual military contracts.... and most of those see December through to about May as the quiet season anyway. They will only get antsy if it starts coming up close to the time they actually want stuff.

Well isnt the normal 3 billion payment to Israel in the NDAA? Matter of fact, iirc both Jordan and Egypt get aid in exchange for peace with Israel as well. Iron Dome is important but it was only egregious because the squad tried to stop payment for a system that's purely defensive and were objectively wrong. The other stuff is more important long term.

Let's see how long he sticks to this promise.
This flies in the face of the official narrative so I'd think they wouldn't say this unless they have information showing that the Covid tyranny is reaching a radioactive level of unpopularity. What can they do from this point? Quietly walk back the restrictions over the first half of 2022?

Yes, that was my point? By removing it out, the most politically damaging result of delaying NDAA funding is removed, making it easier to delay until such a time as the MIC elements begin to worry.

Eeeeeh, media blackouts don't really see diminishing returns. At the same time, they are incredibly unreliable.

The idea is not to stop the propagation of an idea, but to merely make its initial accessibility so low that it fails to propagate into the general populace. Once it reaches that populace the news spreads like wildfire, but the blackout can prevent that. This will never really see diminishing returns, but as you can see by how it works it also is something they can't really ramp up or use offensively.
Pretty sure "Joe Biden is a self-serving cunt and his slaver owner of a VP is even worse" is a very perverse and well known idea though.
Mitigating 75% of the bullshit doesn't work when there's a veritable ocean of it to drown everything in a morass of fecal matter.

Actually I'm going to tell everyone about the shit happening in WI, 99% everyone's going to say "Joe Biden is totally doing that lmao."

Didn't the left lose their fucking minds when Bush Jr tried to put someone unqualified-but-still-more-qualified-than-Kameltoe on the bench?

Of course, the left is immune to hypocrisy, so...
Yes, he tried to nominate Harriet Miers, at the time White House Counsel, to Sandra Day O'Connor's old spot. She was so unqualified that even a lot of Republicans refused to support her, and she had to withdraw her nomination. If Kamala was nominated to the Supreme Court, it would be an even bigger shitshow, because not even is Kamala at least as equally unqualified, it's such an obvious political ploy. And if Biden tries this as a plan to pack the courts (funny how we never hear about that idea anymore), well, get the popcorn ready.

Carlin was a bitter male feminist and atheism+ style new atheist way before those things were mainstream. If he hadn't died from being a fat fuck he would have been furiously sucking the DNC's cock and ranting about anti maskers just like all the other edgy early 2000s media lefties.

I have absolutely no idea where this talking point came from where Carlin is somehow a conservative.
It's from people who see themselves as 'anti-establishment' now and see a kindred spirit in Carlin because he 'spoke truth to power' when 'power' was perceived as a bunch of affluent, vaguely conservative white people that are closet racists and retarded bible thumpers being led around by the nose by a bunch of hand rubbing real-life Mr. Burns (spoiler alert most leftists still think that, just replace 'closet' with 'overt'). I think there's a very slight chance he'd be a dissident substack leftist but if he were still alive I'd say there's a 90% chance he'd have 'retired' in 2016 only to come back raging about Drumpf and his evil nazi supporters as early as Charlottesville and if not that he definitely would've bent the knee for BLM or hyped up 1/6 and anti-vaxxers as the worst thing white people have ever done.

Pelsoi would only become president if Biden and Harris both die at the same time. which isn't likely. Stop fucking perpetuating this idea.

If Harris resigns, Biden would nominate a VP and the house and senate would vote to confirm them. Then if Biden dies, The VP becomes president and the process begins again.
The entire concept of my idea was the Senate not confirming the new VP. Been a while since I took my Government classes, but I'm pretty sure if the VP dies/resigns, and the President dies before they confirm a replacement, it goes to the Majority Leader in the House. The nominated VP doesn't get to just skip confirmation and directly take over the executive branch.

How badly will that expose them to lawsuits? And what are the chances of success there as opposed to just settlements and an NDA?
Lawsuits aren't the risk, it's finally crossing the line of the Publisher/Platform divide in such a way that even the Democrats can't quite ignore it. Dorsey toed a -fine- line where they technically could nail his balls to the wall, but there was just enough plausible deniability to mean the Democrats could hide behind it and pretend nothing was happening.

The new guy has almost explicitly said "to hell with that". Meaning Twitter is poised to become more of a political liability than a benefit.
