Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

We now have Beloved 90s gaming mascot Earthworm Jim, Once a symbol of hilarious, surreal, absurdist gaming preaching about trans rights now. This truly feels like a dark cartoon parody, except it’s real. This is truly the worst fucking timeline.
Well, maybe it is a piece of surrealism. It is so horrible that one cannot help but laugh at it.

Didn't have to scroll far to find at least one comment realted to our sacred golden cow

Though oddly enough there's very few Chris related comments on the video at all.

Teen Titans Go is not that bad. If you don’t like it, don’t watch it. Something these spergs don’t understand.
I've watched it a couple of times. It's not something I'd go out of my way to see, but there are some genuinely funny bits in it, for the whining about "mean-spiritedness". I mean, just be glad that it lets the past series stand on its own, and doesn't retroactively shit on the original like Kevin Smith's slap in the face Masters of the Universe series did.

I get what you’re trying to say but it’s still just a bit snotty to imply TV and movie animation has no artistic value and is nothing more than consumer goods.
I'll admit that I am a bit jaded in that area, today we have a lot of cartoonists who see their field as "art" and yet viewers are often treated to inferior works that are more interested in preaching gender politics than entertainment. Cartoons can be "art", but making everything purple and green and throwing in a bisexual extra isn't the best way to convince me.

Even though I get the meaning behind the saying, “don’t like don’t read” is a terrible defense if someone has genuine criticism. This goes double if the best argument someone can come up with is “it’s not that bad, stop whining”.
I’m personally of the mind it’s just a tepid gag cartoon. It really does even need to wear the skin of another IP.

Eh, in retrospect some of the at times thin skinned shitting on fans for not liking the show seems to almost forewarn what would come to follow in the later years.

Oh don’t think for a second I was talking about this generation. We do get the occasional silver lining every now and then but cartoonists nowadays severely dropped the ball for western animation.
When I think of good TV and movie animation, I think back to stuff from the 90s and 00s. That was when I can honestly say they were pushing towards more art and storytelling within western cartoons ala Gargoyles, Avatar, Samurai Jack, etc. Even the more basic and less ambitious toons were consistently entertaining. Hopefully we can get back to that eventually.

F Is For Family season five is incredibly bad. I remember seasons 1-4 as being mildly amusing but holy shit. I just watched Season five and not one laugh. I know it's the last season and they don't care but damn.

Did Bill Burr's incredibly ugly and mannish black wife finally peg all the funny out of him?

What do you expect after marrying a feminist?

We all know that relationship was the result of virtue signaling.

New Luca short on Disney + Any thoughts?
I liked it. It's more like short DLC than anything seriously substantial considering it's only 6 minutes long, but still worth watching if you like the movie. Since the movie is a slice of life Ghibli wannabe it kinda fits, and I enjoyed the movie a lot more than I thought I would. The movie is actually kinda based because before the movie came out everybody on twitter thought the two MCs were gonna be gay (those creepy fucks) but instead Luca runs off with a girl to go to school, leaving his friend behind.

By the way have any of you guys seen that new mouseflick Encanto? It feels like nobody gives a shit about it and I literally forgot it existed until around 2 weeks ago. I'm sure its decent or whatever but I don't think it's going to do all that great box office wise.

I liked Encanto by the end, but it had a rough start with the huge amount of characters and some iffy songs. I'll probably like it more on a rewatch where I have a better idea of where the plot is going. It's pretty mid tier as far as Disney movies go, especially when it seems to be using other better movies like a blueprint (Coco), but I didn't regret going to see it in theatre. The living house animation was really cool. I liked the character design although I wish Disney would experiment more instead of leaning into the Enchanted/Frozen face for everything.

Really feels like Disney didn’t market that for shit.
