Speaking of Christmas games, almost all of the mainline Yakuza games take place just before Christmas, but Phil has already made that awesome series seem like a boring walking simulator stalling snoozefest throughout the years.

How self are streamers who do charity streams? Using a following to draw attention to a charity you are passionate about and raise money through crowdfunding? How selfish. The only way to do charity is to round your grocery bill off to the nearest dollar.

I just want to say: I was also raised Roman Catholic, like Phil. The church I went to as a child would do regular food and money drives for local shelters, or for specific local or international charities. These would ramp up around christmas and easter especially. The Roman Catholic schools I attended would do the same things, usually trying to incentivize us into doing charity work. Fuck, I'm from Canada and every year the Terry Fox Run happens where you raise money and then run a marathon for the Terry Fox charity. Charity is supposed to be something you do to sacrifice your own time or money to help others, but going through the same background as Phil, I was never taught that it was a private thing, or anything like that.

All of his speech there was just that Phil projecting harder than a megaplex theater.

If Kimbo Slice was the same person as Timbo Slice then he's been a DSP fan since March 2018, at least that's the earliest point Pigpiggo has for DSP saying the name (with tons of other earlier mentions of "Akimbo" and other things unrelated).

This whole charity thing is such a buncha bull. Let me ask you all something. If DSP did an ahnest to god charity stream and it was legit, I know myself I would actually gain a TEEENY TINY SLIVER of respect for DSP, and I wouldn't actively troll him if he was trying to say raise money for kids or for Christmas or something, would you all? I am gonna go out on a limb here and say you all are probably decent people and wouldn't either.

But ofc DSP doesn't think that about us, all he thinks is we are "no good mentally ill pieces of shit" which is just his excuse to not give to anyone but himself, cuz well he is a piece of shit unlike, I assume, most of us.

Seeing the only 'charity event' is the bank of Phail, does anyone believe that someone who lied to his own mother and took money from her under false pretenses wouldn't use said 'charity money' the same way?

2021 was the worst year for Phil, by far. He took big strides in being unwatchable for both detractors and fans alike, and it's a chore keeping up with the drawmuh. The only real thing of note was Twitch booting him, which begins the gradual process of Phil needing to get a real job, and the bank leaks which mostly confirmed things we knew. The Burger King stupid nonsense is a fine snapshot as to where Phil is now.

Every "this [ending] year" (or "last year" in the wee hours of a new one) is the "worst for Phil" since I've known him.

This is his legacy, soon to come 14 years down the hill, the only constancy he would ever display.

Until the entropy catches up for real, and it dies out, slowly fading away in memories...

While I haven’t played Lost Judgment yet, usually sidestories in the Yakuza series, while not mandatory to finish the main story do have a point.

Spoiler

- Pacing and contrasting the serious, dramatic main story with the ridiculous, over-the-top, corny and campy sidestories (somehow, this works);
- Fleshing characters and give some insight to their personalities;
- Give access to the usual hidden final boss that requires mastery of the game’s combat mechanics.

Of course, Phil doesn’t give a shit about any of these, he’s played most Yakuza games and as far as I’m aware he only played the hidden final boss in Yakuza: Like a Dragon but still quit in the final dungeon like a bitch, thus making all his boring grinding pointless.

I’m sure this series is not everyone’s cup of tea. However, Phil’s got a reverse Midas touch and makes every game possible look boring and uninteresting in ways it should not be possible.

Tl:dr: It’s usually not the game’s fault, Phil’s ability to make every game look bland and boring is what’s astounding.

Another thing I thought was very ironic during Phil's charity rant was how he brought up Mother Teresa as an example of how to do charity, how she dedicated her life to it, didn't benefit from it etc.

Maybe the single most famous Catholic in modern history. A household name. Someone who associated with dictators just in order to raise funds. Someone who won numerous Peace Prizes. The subject of numerous books and films. Someone who is a literal fucking sainted individual by the Catholic church.

Phil's go-to example for how charity shouldn't benefit you in any way whatsoever. Mother Teresa.

And let's not ignore the fact that, in mentioning her name while talking about how he is opposed to public charity all these times, he was comparing himself to her. To Mother fucking Teresa... Such a humble guy.

And don't forget, when Mother Teresa dies she got a song about her by Elton John. The famous "Sandals In The Bin".

Let's be honest: Phil is trying to cover his ass in case something leaks again where it shows him to be the greedy asshole we all know he is. It also excuses him (in his fucked-up logic) from doing real charity, since it's done "privately" without the hoopla. On the other hand, as @Draventren points out, it's also Phil projecting and being jealous. All the bullshit "tryhard" talk during his Halo streams shows just how butthurt he is because he sucks at the game, and can't be bothered to get good. So he brings down others who do work hard to get good, instead.

Again, what a fucking whiny bitch.
