That's usually the perception if one isn't that invested in SW or is more of a hardcore ST fan than an SW one (or an OT purist who only cares about the OT and anything that reminds them of the OT), because said groups were more involved with their product and/or fanbase than star wars (or their specific niche groups) and they usually aren't as bothered about how much Disney Wars deviates from the original media or fan perception of characters since they are usually more passionate about something else or just one specific part of it. Meanwhile The Mandalorian was slightly more like past SW and the character people knew as Boba (even having the same exclusive weapon from the holiday special) based on fan interactions, stories and hype released after ESB and years onward regardless of ROTJ's poor handling of the character, and was unsurprisingly more successful and well-received by general audiences because of it. But what Book of Boba Fett does is introduce us to a comical old fuck up whose show's main appeal is the celebrity cameos and the status of said celebrities; in fact most of the praise for this show seems to come from its guest stars or the nostalgia high it triggers. If the celebrities, cameos and the "its not like the prequels or TLJ" argument is best thing people can point out about this claptrap rather than the story and characters themselves, then it really is just a superficial and hollow show that makes a previously popular character (as overrated as he was) and the setting into even more of a joke. Hey but he at least beat up some forgettable nikto biker hooligans before getting his ass handed to him like a bitch as soon as the flashback is over.I’d say TLJ is closer to Picard. At it’s worst (so far) Boba Fett is dumb but harmless.
George did do that. I already posted one of his car designs for the prequels and how they were based on classic vintage 50s cars. Difference is those actually look stylized, resemble the originals while blending in with the alien setting, are less saturated and fit well with the overall color scheme of Coruscant, whilst these gay little mopeds stick out like a sore thumb, since for all the supposed faults of prequels, George understood visuals. But people will still try and justify Disney shit by using that gay pic of that youtube faggot Patrick Willems holding a sign that space operas can't have believable stories because they want to be kids again who don't have to think. The worst part for me is the Vespa gang (and the editing), because they seem like some dumb thing George would’ve thrown into the prequels if he had the chance.
And Book of Boba Fet does exactly the same thing but without fags, trannies or current year shit. People seem to give Filoni and crew more of a pass simply because he doesn't insert modern politics into his predictable crap.Picard and TLJ shit in your mouth and expect you to applaud their brave subversion of expectations or otherwise you’re a Nazi. They tear down universes and characters people love and replace them with smug, mocking laughter directed at the fans.
In short, fuck it and Picard equally. And for everyone else, stop trying to have a dick measuring contest over who has it worse. Both SW and ST are equally fucked and in the gutter. Only difference is people keep telling themselves Furloni will magically fix everything and "save" Star Wars, and if its not that, its usually either because their investment in SW isn't the main franchise/fanbase they follow or the irrational need to keep consooming new media no matter the quality.
Edit: Also @The Valeyard in regards to SWT's wanting Shadow the Chewbacca to be even more stupidly glorified, he seems to base this belief entirely on the fact that Shadow the Chewbacca beat the real Chewbacca in a fight to prop him up further in the comics.
So yeah, it looks like Black Chewbacca should be just about as invincible as fucking Aphra.
Also it really does seem like everyone right now thinks that this fucker is supposed to be Snoova.
