And her winning this hollow prize for "outstanding representation" is pretty ironic since Aphra is a horrible human being and sociopath, but I guess that's what they most want to identify with it seems.

That and GLAAD pretty much supervises the writing for these comics now, so a win was assured this time.

Even her freaking comics could literally only be selling one issue a month and Disney-Marvel would still rake in money from Larry Fink's ESG funds alone.

I'm fine with the 50s cyberpunk gang because that's absolutely something George would do. And in canon you could argue that these are not poor street rats, but spoiled rich kids who blow mom and dad's money buying cyber enhancements and tricking out their vespas.

My bigger issue with the show is the amateurish writing and Boba's characterization. Boba feels like the kind of PC who makes all the Paragon choices in a Mass Effect game when he should be making Renegade choices. He talks tough, but he never does anything tough. And he survives, not by his own skill and wits, but by the sheer stupidity of his enemies. Chewba'qua had plenty of opportunities to kill this dude, but instead he throws Boba into weapon racks and then slowly walks over to him giving Boba plenty of time to pick up a (hilariously ineffective) weapon.

And Boba's declaration of war at the end is just laughable. He has what? Two pig guards, a Chinese woman, four children and a rancor he's going to ride into battle. The bad guys could wipe them out with like four guys firing from cover. I can only imagine the amount of stupid bullshit Boba is going to use to win the final battle. There's going to be some wacky and zany plan where the kids are disguised as waiters and sneak into the compound to blow something up that somehow neutralizes the pike's 100-to-1 advantage. Wowzers.

George might have done the street rats, but he would 100% be smart enough to realize its too saturated. say what you will about george he genuinely gave a fuck about the small stuff; look at the podracing scene. disney would have had all the racers be top notch and similar. instead George made sure each of the 16+ racers had their own unique style. if he had to put those characters in they'd all look a fuck load more like Kelly Leak, and their speeders would resemble those old sub 100cc motorcycles desert kids would have to fuck around with. for fucks sake you can look up on youtube inner city kids using 4x4s and dirt bikes in urban areas and doing similar shit, they aren't polished or as color coordinated as those fucks.

Jon's original work has a lot of darker characters, Made is a satire of a normie who trys to be one of those gangsters he saw in those 90s Mafia films and quite a few characters are murderous psychopaths, in Swingers one of the main characters pulls a gun out on a kid, Zathura dealt with a kid basically wishing his brother out of existence, even Elf despite the charm mainly involved an adopted kid who completely fails at reconnecting with his birth father, which is also the basic plot of one of the most memorable dark Fresh Prince episodes. Hell even Iron Man between Tony fucking a random journalist, having strippers as flight attendants, and becoming a prisoner of a taliban-esque group. it feels like a movie made in response to the twee, care free anti-danger anti-adult modern day MCU.

Agreed, I always have said the timeline got screwed up with the PT. Anakin should have been 20 years older as Darth Vader (as was shown orifginally in ROTJ). Obi Wan should have discovered him when he was in his 20s and the Clone Wars should have been at least 10 years long, with the Rebellion ongoing for a while before ANH. They compressed everything for no reason at all.

according to Timothy and others in the 90s that was exactly how the pre OT era went, and then George decided to do his prequels instead and changed everything.

The ST could have been a dark and desperate story of the "Empire" refusing to fade away, with the fledgling New Republic fighting not only the Imperial remnant but countless systems wanting the stability and cash flow of the Empire to return. Active rejection of the Jedi by the Galaxy at large would have been interesting to explore. Imagine Leia and the "Resistance" actually being resistance against the newly corrupted "New Republic" with the help of several virtuous old Imperial Fleet Admirals. We could also have Luke create a new Jedi Order of blaster carrying force users (like himself) who were not the out of touch "monks" the Galaxy had come to hate.

...but Im just glad they played it safe and gave us a cheap version of what we already saw...

the average person sort of agrees about the weird reset. it really would have been better if the villians were the upstart rebels and were trying to destroy and destabilize the new republic, unfortunately the mouse would never dare take things in an interesting direction like that.

that brings up another difference, we see time differently than George probably did. our 60 year olds aren't as ancient as Guinness nor as unfit physically. 3 years with lots of action makes sense if you grew up with daily updates of the korean war, or us involvment in ww2. but we grew up with tom cruise and the afghan war. the concept of a different battle every week or day on different fronts seems ridiculous to us. but you'd 100% need over 130 episodes to cover all 1000 days the US fought in ww2.

I remember there was a shitload of controversy when Jimmy Smits resumed his role as Organa, because people didn't realize that him looking nearly the same when in fiction its 18 years later actually isn't that big of a jump when considering the two roles were 12 years apart.

I honestly don't understand why so many adults are so obsessed with a lego game.

And almost every comment is identical which is just eerie.

And all for a series of games that play exactly the same with the only thing this one brings is bigger maps and more vehicle shit. Part of the charm of the original Lego Star Wars was that it was a cutesy silent remake of the films for your kids with some adorable moments. Now with the shitty dialogue, voice acting and trendy humor, it doesn't even have that going for it (edit: oh joy, an optional mumble mode, I'm sure that changes everything) and at the end of the day its still just being used to prop up and boost the appeal of the crappier new films, and its not like kids are the most excited ones for this game, since its mostly an unusual number of adults creaming themselves over this game's continuously postponed release for the last two years. And whatever gets pumped out will just be an inferior remake of the original with a lot of corny dialogue if the TFA lego game wasn't a big enough example. Also watch as Doomcock tries and spin this to try and find secret messages of how Disney will totally be disowning the sequels and DisCanon.

I admit that I lost a lot of interest in this game's story after the Eternal Empire stuff, and the new Sith Emperor expansion was pretty gay along with all the disney crap they keep adding to the codex (that and making Umbara one of the new worlds to appease the Filoni fans instead of adding one of the lesser explored worlds), but regardless, its still fun to go back to this game now and then, so its annoying to see them not give this game's development more attention or keep its lore undisneyfied when its still making millions for them a year simply by being its own thing regardless of its flaws.

I've been thinking about this as well, between this and Ted Lasso; there seems to be a massive dumbing down of pop culture. and i have a theory as to why; people whine about the DNC not doing any post-mortem after the 2016 election and i think what actually happened is that they did, but just never published the findings.

Removal of complexity and storytelling to stunt minds does sound believable, but I think its also a mixture of Disney not wanting morally dubious heroes (unless its Dr. Aphra since she's gay she gets a pass apparently) as seen with even their Force Unleashed knockoff not even giving you a dark side option. That and ESG funding means major studios like Disney don't have to really put in effort into anything they do. They can make the biggest pile of crap imaginable that makes almost nothing in profits, yet it will still net them a fortune simply for meeting the moral and political prerequisites that faggots like Larry Fink and similar investors have set forth by having the most milquetoast but morally upstanding hero alongside mandatory diversity hires who take up the actual spotlight and supersede them.

First, and arguably the most savage, is Steve Perry--who some of you EU stalwarts may recognize as the author of the Shadows of the Empire novel.

Now, I'm not going to pretend that Shadows of the Empire is Pulitzer-winning material, or that it doesn't have some weird ideas of its own, but as a story about bounty hunters and the criminal underworld? It deflowers this terrible new Boba Fett show. So I think Perry has plenty of authority when it comes to dumping all over this show, considering he did a far better job tackling this show's subject matter in the 90's.

Other new detractors include Simon Williamson, pupeteer of Max Rebo in ROTJ, as well as playing the unfortunate Gamorrean Guard that gets thrown into the Rancor Pit with Luke, and subsequently eaten.

Then you have Toby Philpott, one of the puppeteers for Jabba the Hutt abandoning all pretenses of cordiality and outright shitting on the new Hutt designs:

And finally, the most significant voice where I'm concerned, Jan Duursema. For those that need reminding, Jan is the superbly talented comic artist whose brilliant work I've spotlighted in my coverage of the Star Wars Legacy comics, and also spearheaded the likes of Republic, Dawn of the Jedi, designing and co-creating countless iconic EU characters from Quinlan Vos to Ayla Secura to Darth Talon.

It's important to note that Duursema has been far less harsh towards the Disney SW Era, which I would imagine stems from her getting the occasional gig drawing covers for their crappy Marvel outings. As such, she's probably the least harsh voice of this lot.

However...she still says what a lot of us are thinking:

And yes, Duursema is 100% qualified to pass this criticism, given how she specialized in churning out designs to match with the rundown, weathered look of Star Wars locales herself:

It really is something to see all these veterans of SW film and media production coming out of the woodwork to comment on how garbage Blorba Fett is. I think it speaks volumes of how far the quality has dropped, where now big voices in the industries feel emboldened enough to come forward to collectively laugh--and groan--at how bad the latest Star Wars tripe is.

The EU was good because there was so much, there was bound to be something you liked. There was horror, crime dramas, space operas, political thrillers, kiddie shit with horrific nightmarish sequences, normal kiddie shit and everything in between. Some of it was garbage but it was self contained garbage.

You can’t do that with the Disney shit, not only is it all garbage made by homosexuals but it’s also very incestuous and tied together. Meaning you can’t just pick up a book, you have to see the miniseries where the characters originate and the show where the plot thread begins.
