Golden Wind was *easily* one of my favorite seasons of Jojo... But I have to say, Giorno was probably the blandest JoJo yet. I didn't dislike him or anything, I just didn't think he really stands out. He was basically Josuke 2.0 with similar (and technically better) powers, but a hell of a lot less personality.

Yeah Giorno is probably the weakest of the Jojo’s for how bland he is. He’s not a bad character but he’s boring. It doesn’t help his fanboys try to point out his similarities to Jonathon and Dio to make him look deep but that really doesn’t help his case

Why did they only release half of stone ocean?
It's more like 1/3 of Stone Ocean, theres still quite a bit left. It was probably part of the Netflix deal, but details arent out on it. The show is being aired weekly in Japan since december and we'll probably get more episodes in March/April when Japan catches up to Netflix.

It’s more like a third since there are two thirds left. But it’s really likely it’s just a deal so Netflix can get the premiere rights in order for Japanese people to watch Netflix. It’s currently airing weekly so we’ll probably get more news in March/April.

Giorno ruined Part 5 for me. In every other respect, Part 5 is a better Stardust Crusaders. It has basically the same plot structure except the villains are better developed and have some character beyond being the generic bad guy, and Diavolo is like Dio except he’s an edgy goth.

Giorno though? Holy fuck. Jotaro gets flak for having no personality, but he’s actually just autistic and antisocial - you can tell that he does care about Joseph, and along the way he gains a rapport with Polnareff as well. And of course the whole reason he’s on this trip in the first place is to save his mom’s life, which is a very personal motivation. Giorno straight up just wants to be the fucking pirate king, and I never felt like he develops a real connection with anyone in the cast other than Buccierati. And if you thought Star Platinum was the king of ass-pull powers, he’s got nothing on Gold Experience.

Seriously, if Giorno didn’t suck so hard Golden Wind would easily be the best Jojo part.

One good thing I will say about Giorno, is that he has a fucking fantastic theme song. (And that is especially saying something considering how great Jojo music in general typically is.)
But yeah, the character himself is still pretty bland... And it isn't like any other Jojo has had *bad* music yet.

But since I'm already on the topic, the last opening of Golden Wind is so fucking fantastic...
And if you disagree with with me, I don't think we can ever be friends...

But yeah, I wish Giorno had been a better character. Maybe Jonathan is technically his biological father after all.

To be honest all the Jojo openings are fantastic in their own way even the worst one is still a banger.

Though with Giorno, I think he's even worse than Jonathon cause at least Jonathon being a goody two shoes was necessary to establish the Jojo's as good people, and also he was really cool though it was a shame the anime cut out some of his funnier moments from the manga.

I really wish Netflix hadn't got the rights to Part 6. Everyone's basically forgotten about it at this point and even I had to remind myself that it's only a third or so done.
I do hope that they quit that gay ass netflix batch release and go episode by episode for the last third at least.
The race to stop Pucci and him finally achieving Made In Heaven is one of the most despair and tense filled moments in the whole series and if they just release all at once there's gonna be 0 build up between cliffhangers, shit's gonna suck

Also people tend to forget part 1 released in fucking 1987 and Araki had barely an idea of what the fuck he was doing, but he knew not to stress it too much and keep it simple from his previous series attempts, that's why Jonathan character is so flat he couldn't be experimenting with the weird shit he lather came up with because he had to compete with other Shonen Jump legends for a spot so he had to make something interesting but easily digestible.
This is also why the villains and side characters turned out more memorable, as long as Jonathan could serve as an anchor for the reader he could get as wacky as he wanted with everything else

Heh. I literally don't disagree with anything you just said. I was kind of making a joke, but I admit it wasn't really the best joke. I should probably read the manga at some point... That point won't be now though.

Yeah like the batch release is fine for like 1 cour, but I hope it doesn't fix the rest of the release schedule, like it's still gonna be good at least (since I do trust the people at David Productions to pull it off), but Made in Heaven and C-Moon are some great arcs that deserve proper hype

So far Part 6 has been great but agree with the Made In Heaven part it needs to be weekly. I just can't wait til part 7 to see Funny Valentine, Steel Ball Run is the most JoJo of JoJo's just bizarre but clever.

Part 6 is absolutely fantastic, most people I know regard 6 as their fave and I agree. At least JoJo isn't like most anime/manga and disappoints, unlike most things.

You must have some uniquely cultured friends, Part 6 is highly divisive. Personally I wouldn’t rank it my favorite part (hard to beat Part 4) but it’s up there.

Also, I’m a bit conflicted on SBR. It has some aspects that are done REALLY well (Funny Valentine, Johnny, Gyro and their relationship) but the villains of the week range from pretty good (Ringo Roadagain, the Catch the Rainbow stand user) to completely forgettable to the point that I can’t remember their names or stand names at all (the metal balloon dog dude, the Battleships dude, the guy with the ridiculously OP explosion stand). Part 5 shows that you CAN have a compelling villain cast that actually have interesting backstories beyond “is a hired goon who’s just in it for the money” so it’s a bit disappointing that SBR goes backwards in that regard. I think it might’ve been more interesting if it started off with hired goons, but then Funny Valentine starts sending in members of his Cabinet or something.

I take it you haven’t read Jojolion?

I agree that SBR has a lot of peaks and valleys when it comes to the side villains, but I think it makes up for it by having really fun and interesting fights. Like you said, villains like Mike O. and Chocolate Disco lack personality and charm, but I really like both of their Stands and the way the fight plays out.

I have no idea if it works in Japanese, but you have to admit guard rail is a god-tier double entendre.

Also, I don’t care if it’s a crack theory but I’m 100% invested in the idea that Soundman is actually Sandman from a parallel universe. It’s one of those things that I’m gonna assume probably wasn’t intended, because all the evidence in favor of it can easily be written off as typical Jojo inconsistencies, but the parallel universe explanation works so well and is much more satisfying than chalking it up to Araki forgot.
