Louis Theroux was never going to be as thorough as KF, but it feels as though he was looking for a hook slightly. For an audience, especially a British one, the Groypers simply aren't that relevant. So Louis ended up leaning into their grift slightly, or presenting them as some example of a dangerous far-right threat. Obviously, the Groyper descent into Twitter alts and explicitly bad optics is interesting, but it also coincides with a decline in their relevance, so it's not as alarmist a point.

All the same, the documentary was unlikely to be comprehensive enough to please people familiar with this thread, but Theroux did manage to unsettle a few of the Groypers and get them to incriminate themselves. Presenting them as far-right isn't that difficult, and honestly the Groyper beliefs might be off-putting by themselves.

It feels like, if they got Parag Agrawal to visit these people, maybe he could have done better than Theroux. After all, he had them squirming around calling themselves 'raper' and 'cheeser' a short time ago. Now that would have been a fun documentary.

Very good points. I agree, to normal people with jobs and mortgages, Fuentes looks like a weirdo Internet kid on cocaine and some combination of repulsive and baffling.

But, Louis could have napalmed him with a lot of content, and didn't go there. Further, he let Nipples claim a lot of clout without really challenging his claims. That strikes me of letting the cocksucker have an opportunity to gain traction with ConInc 2.0.

I watched several chunks of the documentary. Overall I was disappointed because I was hoping Louis Theroux would do as good of a job as he did when he covered the Westboro Baptist Church cult.

My biggest gripe is that Louis just quickly threw Baked Alaska's mea culpa statement at the very end, which Baked Alaska was at that point already done talking to Louis and Baked has enough working braincells to know that Louis was attempting to call him out as a grifter. If I had been Louis I would have asked about Baked about first about his short absence in 2019 before coming back and joining with Fuentes. But maybe that wouldn't have worked who knows?

At the end of the day it's just transparently thin that Baked Alaska is just a fucking clown at this point. That might be an insult to clowns as I think the whole IP2 dumbfuckery is more akin to professional hobo. The fact that Nick associates with such a fucking loser and all his hypocrisy is evidence enough that Nick is a grifter as well.

But anyway Porsalin's documentaries on Owen Benjamin and Baked Alaska ultimately covered this topic far better. It'll be interesting to see how long Fuentes's cult persists because Jesus Christ the guy is a fucking idiot and his rhetoric is just insipid.
