I also don't deal with any Nigerian princes. I do buy ethnic art from a Ghana chieftain, but the only Africans I'm dealing directly with are Zambian upper class ladies and an Ethiopian family. the rest i get from european or American brokers

Show me something in your personal collection that is of equal merit as that orange tourmaline or those fire agates if you want any credibility. I happen to have a really excellent selection of low end material i've been building for years that just got seriously enhanced with a fat pot of mid range items that are already selling well. I turned down a $500 offer on the tourmaline from the first person who looked at it. i paid ten dollars or less per gram on all that tourmaline that sells easily at thirty or forty. I'm getting $4.00/gram for facet grade amethyst crystals i'm pulling from $350 kilos. i get a buck for the A grade and half a dollar for the B grade of that, their citrine and clear quartz all day long and if you're calling the Zimbabwe carvings garbage, you're just a boor.
