General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

I'm speaking in a very general sense with the "taking a break" stuff, I never mentioned anything about any particular content getting cancelled or postponed.

I also disagree with equating a terminated contract to a character "dying". Don't you guys usually go on about how vtubers are people behind those avatars and that the person should take priority over the character? How does that suddenly stop being the case over an ending in career? You all know for a fact that the person behind Rushia isn't dead herself.

I would've figured a lot of you might've made your peace with the dichotomy here ever since Coco's graduation/Kson rising to prominence. One job ending isn't the end in and of itself.
I don't know about others here, but I think content ultimately takes priority. Obviously we know Rushia's VA is still kicking, but I bet if Kermit the Frog got retired, middle aged suburban women would discuss him separately from his voice actor. It's a corpo entertainment company, and I think that's a big reason Kiara was hated on so much until somewhat recently--she inserted herself into her character too much.

It's the reason roomates are treated separately. This thread talks about roomates a lot because unlike 4chan and Reddit, the jannies won't stop you. This is also a gossip website.

Which, don't get me wrong. I'm apathetic as to whether these entertainers produce content or not at this point. It's just dumb from a professional standpoint because, realistically, nobody collectively stops working their job just because "the vibe is off", you suck it up and push through it anyway.
You actually can though. If you have a hangover, if you had trouble sleeping, if your allergies are acting, if you want to get a head start on a road trip, if you want to just chill at home, you're allowed to do that as long as its within the constrains of the arrangement you made with your employer. It's a complete non-issue until it becomes a reoccuring pattern that you're always finding excuses not to work and are thus shifting the burden onto someone else. And in the low-stakes industry of streaming, one-day to reschedule won't amount to shit. Kiara has arguably fucked over more people because she rescheduled a whole collab with four other members, but as long as those four don't care, I don't know why anyone else would.
There's far more justifiable reasons to need to take a mental health break, like a death in the family or medical issues (and sometimes a lot of people aren't even allowed the luxury of "time off" in those cases either). But to say "No, everyone should be entitled to a break today just because a war is starting between two foreign powers" is just so bleeding heart that it's asinine, especially when you consider how much bad shit goes on in the world in general that either goes beyond most people's notice or care to begin with.
You're putting words into my mouth. I never said that everyone is entitled to take the day off like it's Russian Invasion Day, I said, I don't blame anyone for taking the day off. To overly empathetic people, this is a huge and pointless conflict that's undoubtedly making them feel bad, but I still expect everyone to use their PTO properly and not just flat-out no-show to work just because bad shit is happening. I'm carrying about my day as usual, but I can see why it would be a low-energy kind of day for people who are sensitive to this sort of thing.

Have no words. Eight hours (with pause) i read that thread today. When I woke up, I thought the worst problem would be, as usual, explosions outside the window and evading mobilization. But the Rushia situation upset me more, I didn't even read the news today... Although I rarely watched her, more often just clips with her. Maybe i need to touch some grass idk. But the feelings are very strong.

Flare confirmed for former AV star
Name?

1. She couldn't have handled it worse. She should have just let this blow over like the nothing-burger it was.
In fact, didn't Cover basically say the personal relationships of their talents were none of their business?
But, no. She went to JP Keem to "correct the record" and did not do as much as properly redact/remove the Hololive/Cover info to protect her colleagues. I wouldn't blame them if they were pissed at her for that.

I honestly, wholly believe that Cover's lauded, EOP-baiting line of 'We do not get involved with the private lives of our talents' was double-edged corpo-speak for 'We will not take legal action against slander of Mikeneko because she's not our fucking problem'.

Rushia, getting dumped, told to move house, and viewing her ability to work anytime soon as a pipedream, probably also felt Cover weren't going to act fast enough (if at all) and got desperate.

I've never been in a situation like it, but I can imagine the tunnel vision she must have had. Surely she would've spoken to Kson about it, which makes me wonder what was actually said about how the company would help her and she felt it wouldn't be effective.

All around very sad. The responsibility for her bad decisions are ultimately hers, but I still feel like they are very 'human' decisions arising from a feeling that her life was collapsing.

The silver lining is that Mikeneko is almost definitely going to land on her feet if she doesn't an hero. The money and support will always 'be there' and even if she earns less it'll be offset by the Cover tax not being in place.

So... You don't think they're entitled to a break because of bad shit happening in the world, but yet you empathize with their desire to take a break because of all the bad shit happening in the world and you're going to continue arguing as much.

I mean, conversely, you're also putting words in my mouth by insinuating that I'm suggesting that the talents are taking some form of longer-term hiatus over this. We are actually hitting >implying implications levels of arguing here.

So, I've caught up with the Rushia news and I have a couple of thoughts.
1. She couldn't have handled it worse. She should have just let this blow over like the nothing-burger it was.

2. The official statement from Cover indicated that there were leaks to 3rd parties. Are they saying have proof that this wasn't the first time it happened with Rushia?
3. ARCHIVE. EVERYTHING.
Rushia's channel is going down in March with all content deleted.
If there is no one downl
oading archiving all of her content, THERE SHOULD BE.
High priority with the Members Only content (just like with Coco).
This is not a drill!
Remember when Matsuri was blackmailed for a few thousand cause she was in a host club, she then paid the money and the photo was released anyways? Simpler time. Does this make Rushia the better or worse Menhera?

I haven't kept up on this at all, but it blows my mind how menhera they always end up being.

Like, they pull in literal millions of dollars. If they rode the wave for 5 years, it's enough cash to set them up for life. And there is basically one major no-no. Shit, it's not even like they have to be this way for life, just spend enough time to secure a giant bag to be set for life, and then bail.

Like, if someone said "Hey, you can earn $5 Million bucks from lonely weirdos over the course of the next few years, but you can't talk to the opposite gender, have relationships with them, or have sex during that period", so many people would take that deal easily. You can say it's a fucked up culture, but those are the rules everyone agrees to when they enter into the vtuber world. For some reason they always think they'll be the one's who can get it both ways, but they end up fucking it up, lol.
Also, wasn't Rushia's whole schtick really focused on the GFE (IIRC she even had fake marriage certificates for merch)? She had to know this was a possible outcome when she was cultivating that image.

Entitled to me means that they deserve a break and should have one. I don't think this is the case, because like you said, bad shit is happening all the time. However, if they want a break and can take one without affecting anybody, it doesn't really matter to me and I can empathize with being bummed out by the state of things.

I don't really know how to explain my thoughts more than that, and since this conversation is getting too steamy for this thread, we can make out behind the gym after school, you know, if you wanna.

You have to give Rushia credit for getting rid of the drama she was worried about. How many people are still talking about Mi-chan and the GTA hacker?

If you guys aren't Pomu-pilled yet you're literally beyond help. Love yourself more.
Speaking of - Pomu's VRchat thing turned into an impromptu collab with Luca and Shu when Shu showed up as a giant banana staring through a window to the house Pomu was in. She was painting quietly and saw Shu through the window and screamed in terror. Luca can't decide which avatar to use. Thus far he's been: a tinier flying Pomu, low poly Finana, a boobie mousepad version of Luca, and now is currently a minecraft model of Luca. Rosemi is about to join soon too.

Take a ticket and get in line. There's enough people deep in the closet for me in this thread to begin with.

Rushia fucking everything up for herself is no surprise, really.

I remember how she totally freaked out over youtube adding member renewal SCs:

Youtube adding a new feature made her freak out so bad she knocked everything over and ran around panicking while trying to call her manager, lol.

Also, prophetic comment:

Guess she never did improve her screenshot skills, lol.

Cali is Dean Ambrose. And just like Dean, can't string a sentence together when put on the spot for something she doesn't give a shit about.
So much like Dean Ambrose if she became Jon Moxley/DemonDice full time she would have great streams/matches with KSon The American Dragon, Bryan Danielson?

It's like poetry, it rhymes and VTubing is just wrestling but with waifus.

LOL, bold of you to assume Gura's talking about Elden Ring. She could've been talking about Powerwashing Simulator, which is a game perm she's been drooling over for a while.
I think it was even on the first draft of her schedule last week.

I'm fine with either overlord truth be told.
Though I would have thought they should know if they have perms for that too considering Kronii played it lol
