those countries are not important. if Germany, italy and france buy russian gas everything is fine for them.
Also like I mentioned up thread, the US themselves will be more than happy to capitalise. When the Baltics implemented some idiotic anti-Russian gas policies the American's were literally buying up gas in St Petersburg and selling it to Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia as "American" gas lmao

Anyone who thinks they can just cut off the supply of Russian gas to Europe as a sanction is coping and sneeding

The Ukrainian military is beginning to deploy its first draftees to the front.

If this were a U.S. operation the airports and harbors would've been the first to go, ideally handled by the Marine Corps followed by Army units setting up Anti-Air Batteries, and Artillery so they can keep pouring in units via amphibious or air methods, and entrench themselves.
that doesnt work against any semi-competent army.

There are people in this thread who think political capital doesn't real when (semi-)dictatorship. They think only democracies experience internal strife and probably imagine geopolitics being like a Paradox Game.
1. Russia had alot more costly conflicts in recent history over alot less. Eastern Ukraine is pretty big and full of Russians. the will to liberate them is pretty strong.
2. there is political capital in Paradox games, its called Mana.

Okay, so put a number on the amount of lives Ukrainian resources and farmland is worth lol
It's absolutely amazing how some people have deluded themselves into thinking one of the poorest regions of Europe is a massive prize. Exactly what valuable commodity is Ukraine providing that Russia doesn't already have?
The Russians may be banking on Ukraine becoming more important agriculturally from climate change slashing food output in other parts of the world.

The fact that the Russians don't feel the need to ritually humiliate the people they capture shows which side is coping and seething in this conflict.
In all honesty though, while the Ukrainian side has done some pretty sketchy stuff during this conflict for propaganda value and the Russians have been a bit negligent around civilian population centers, both sides have actually fought honorably. I'm hoping we don't see any dumb Nuremberg shit from either side after this depending on who wins.

Imagine being a Ukrainian and trying to sleep right now.

Sleeping under indirect is actually easier because if its close enough you'll never know. You'll just die in your sleep.

I'd rather sleep in that than try to get rest in some wooded OP wondering if Ivan might slit my throat bc someone on watch nodded off.

Soon to be over IMO. They are in Kyiv. They might surround, sabotage, and starve the city before laying down air strikes later in the night. Then they will begin to close in tomorrow. They might give Zelensky the option to publically flee the country and humiliate Ukraine or have "civilians" drag him out and finish him off.

Either way mass human rights abuses will occur inevitably.

I don't have a number as I don't care. And I have no idea how many deaths Putin can sweep aside with a parade.

..... I'm going to assume you have a job. If your boss offers you a raise, would you take it? Or would you say "Oh no I'm good. You already pay me money. Why would I want more?"

Resources in real life don't work like video games. Having an iron mine doesn't mean your country has infinite iron. If you acquire more resources, that's more you can use or trade. I don't know how I can make it simpler. Let's pretend I have an apple. Then I find one more. But I only want one apple. I can trade the second apple to Jimmy who has 0 apples for money or something I want

None of the countries experience internal strife, dictatorship or not. The second you get anything threatening, state of exception is used and internal strife is solved away.

Zelensky was given an ultimatum already and his safe passage out of the country was guaranteed by Putin. Zelensky is doubling down by going full mobilization.
