dont need a lot of training for simple assignment such as "take this rifle, sit in that bunker, shoot enemy troops on sight"

sure they'd be worthless for most operations, but simple guard duty on fortified positions can be done by amateurs, especially when supervised by real troops.
Idk, most times I've been at a range with a first-timer, they're doing something fucking retarded and dangerous. Could be more trouble than they're worth, in some cases.
I know there are all kinds of African militias that operate with basically zero training or skill, but that level is generally not enough to get anything done on a non-African battlefield, or sentry post.

EDIT I had not yet seen this while preparing this post, but case in point:
Seems like some Ukrainians in Kiev got too excited and started shooting their own guys.

Warning, loud unrelated background noises at 0:22, 0:32 and 2:13!

If you compare the US invasion that left 3k dead in the middle east vs this Russian invasion which has left less than 150 dead via pro Ukrainian forces that's astounding. US took weeks, Russia is taking days to a week maximum and doing it with such minimal civilian casualties. It's impressive whether one approves or disapproves.
What's surprising is how quickly things are unravelling, given that the Russians really seem to be holding back.
If they'd gone full-bore, we'd be able to see it by now. More combat footage, bodies piling up, burned out buildings, and so on.
More scalpel than sledgehammer, it seems. They definitely weren't that gentle in Syria.

That's one way to get crime skyrocketing and bands of roving bandits.
Firearms ownership rates are negatively correlated with crime. Criminals are afraid to commit crimes when they understand there's a strong likelihood their victim will be armed with a gun. Criminals love gun-free zones, where they know only criminals are armed, and the law-abiding nigger cattle are nice and docile.

>imagine being a country with a nuclear arsenal
>imagine giving that nuclear srsenal away because the US pinky swore that it’s gonna let you in it’s super special facebook group and its got your back bro trust me
>imagine getting invaded by the militarily dominating country you broke away from because you no longer have anything to make em shit their pants
>imagine getting led by the nose by the us for 30 years and then getting ghosted after they PINKY SWORE that they got your back bro!
>imagine being this stupid and then getting mad that the whole world either does not give a flying fuck or is outright laughing at you

Absolutely hadam
Yes, but the difference is that the US doesn't shell the cities of my country. And that's the only difference that matters.

This is the real problems with AK47s and Molotovs for all, without training they're more liable to shoot eachother than the enemy when they get excited
I think the real problem is the fact that Ukraine had a problem with Russian separatists/mercenaries before this invasion. Now guns and molotovs are free for the taking and there's a huge incentive to join up with the Russian side

They're yet to commit half their battalion tactical groups apparently. Not sure what they're waiting for, there's that one theory they were going to let the Ukies concentrate against the forces they did deploy and then let the hulkamania run wild once Ukie troops were locked into combat, or maybe they're going to use them as replacements so increasingly tired and run down Ukie combat units are always facing fresh Russian troops? But generally not sure why they are both trying to seemingly blitz Kiev but also only committing half their total available forces.

Pretty much this. Boomer Americans will call Putin a communist because he was part of the KGB and millenial/zoomer Americans will call Putin Hitler because they are told that he is a right wing dictator.

Not because he is a right-wing dictator. Its because anyone who gets in the way of the United States becomes the new "Hitler". Nearly every war fought since world war II has been a
war to stop the "new Hitler". The enemy always has to be made into a new Hitler as part of the legal/moral/intellectual justification for the war. Hitler 's image is used as a sort of
secular "devil" and when someone is made into the new devil, the only possible policy is war to their total destruction. When you make your opponent into "new hitler", there
are no rules anymore and there is a whole world war II historical narrative that any discussion of the issue is pushed into.

I am sure Russia would be more then happy to discuss ukraines surrender terms.
Seems that's the vibe

Or: never show up after the original sign up, free gun
Nah, before that they should be taken to distribution points, where they will be given everything and then assigned to do something.

They are talking about "conscriptible men" in the press release. But almost certainly the real concern is people in the army deserting and/or fleeing.
Makes sense. Especially after that jet pilot, who flew to Romania.

It's going to be a good time to get some equipment on the black market. I'm betting most of that equipment just being handed out is off on its way to some middle eastern warlord for whatever it costs to bribe a border guard and start their new life in Poland.
