Don't be surprised. We won't get anything from Russia until after or well into the war. The west is pumping out more propaganda then real information can come from through so it's hard to figure out what's actually happening. If the Ukrainians have even as much as a small foot hold in Kharkiv, they will claim they are still in control of Kharkiv and western media will parrot them and act as if the fight is still going. It's just how things work. To mke things worse for information gathering, Russia is not as forthcoming with any information even when their winning. It was the same thing during the Syrian civil war. I remember during the Syrian civil war liveuamap.com would report absurd causalities taken by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) the rebels caused just based on a single tweet with no evidence from some no name rebel who probably wasn't even in Syria. According to liveuamap.com, The SAA had more causalities than there were solders in it, yet they still had victory after victory and the Free Syrian Army no longer exists. Seeing how things are going right now anyways, it seems like the Ukrainians are more of a challenge than Russia was expecting and I have seem plenty of footage of whole armor columns being vaporized to back that up. Who would have thought that a war doctrine based on the Second World War wouldn't work in 2022.

I'm inclined to agree seeing as there's no ceasefire. Most of the time if you're having peace talks in good faith you stop shooting each other while negotiating.

I understand this. I actually do. Russia doesn't want "enemy" weapons on its border.

However, before this event, the situation between NATO and Russia is nowhere as tense as it was during the times of NATO and the Soviet Union. Maybe Russia thought its "interests" were at risk (even while Europe was hungrily sucking up its oil and natural gas), but they were not at the brink of war or invasion by NATO.

Furthermore, "but muh Cuban Missile Crisis/Monroe Doctrine interventionism" is whataboutism. If it was wrong for America to saber-rattle against the Soviet Union and support rebel groups and movements to overthrow pro-Soviet/Russian governments, why does that mean it's acceptable for Russia to launch an all-out war?

As for the whole "NATO supports (((((((globohomo))))) so Russia is based" edgelordery floating around this thread, as much as I might not enjoy a gay pride parade going down the main street of my city, I'd still rather have that than a parade of APVs from a belligerent foreign nation.
