Even if Russia suffers for a while due to the sanctions, which is still to be seen since they have been prepping for it with China etc for a while, they've still accomplished a major feat by continuing the separation of Europe and America. The US has, for a long time and to the disdain of our critics, been the power broker behind most of Europe's democracies. At the end of the day despite all the legends of glory, Europe was still bankrolled, rebuilt and reinforced by American money and military power. This pan Atlantic broship was not to last though and Biden seems to be the geriatric dipshit left holding the proverbial hot potato - he is the president under which the camel's back broke and who completely decimated any lasting respect Europe had for the US. And Putin put the final nail in that coffin by responding to Bidens huffing and puffing by invading anyway, and Biden only being able to levy sanctions in response.

Europe has completely lost faith in America and while Europe is becoming more united with one another the US is becoming more fragmented on all levels.

So really, even if Putin gets fucking merc'd on live tv tomorrow by The Ghost of Kiev Samyuli himself, he's still accomplished more than any Russian ruler in the last 50 years by driving a lasting wedge between Europe and the US.
To say it like this he is the Otto von Bismarck of our age. While the west has descend into ideological fracturing in the west particularly Canada and the US Which are one bad day away from descending into a civil conflict. For modern day Russia he has laid the ground work. My only hope is that the Russians are grooming competent leadership and just not dumb ideological yes men.

Its kind of funny to think that if this doesn't lead to a total nuclear holocaust, Russia is going to literally be a poz and soy free zone. Hmmm, how hard is it to learn to use those weird Cyrillic characters?
Pretty sure Russia is the POZ capital of Europe. They have a pretty bad HIV epidemic.

The city of Chernihiv in Northern Ukraine is currently under siege and constant bombardment by Russian troops. All the roads have been mined and it seems like it is under similar MLRS fire as Kharkiv. We will likely see major combat there today.

However, information has been trickling in from an unexpected source. Trapped in the city with her mother is a girl who makes VTuber avatars https://twitter.com/elisabe77e

View attachment 3030003

She has been recording some videos and images of the aftermath of the shelling in Chernihiv, which has already destroyed quite a bit of civilian infrastructure.

She also makes live tweets about the situation from a civilian standpoint and airs out her frustration on Twitter, often with predictable results.

We currently live in a world where people who make VTuber avatars are turned into war correspondents. This is truly the most cursed timeline.
lol following her. it’s interesting to see that she’s literally in a life or death situation and seeing her country get fucking bombed and she’s getting policed about her language. giving her a follow for sure

C. China Buys Russian oil and gas and will probably get it for an even cheaper amount now. India buys Billions of Russian arms. Both of these countries are now going to probably get cheaper oil from Russia. Russia makes a shitload money from China and India. China and India will simply prop up the Russian federation's economy and all is well.
A funny aspect of the sanctions, and their tanking of the Russian Ruble on forex markets, is that it makes Russian exports all the more appealing to those still willing to trade with Russia. With their currency weakened, Russian exports now have a big ON SALE sticker that makes them more competitive on int'l markets.

Arguably, Germany does this on purpose by keeping the likes of Greece within the Eurozone; it drags down the overall price of the Euro on forex markets, thereby making Volkswagens and other German manufactured goods more competitive on int'l markets, compared to if they were still on the Deutschmark. Eurozone shenanigans are the reason Germany is able to consistently run a gigantic trade surplus.

A. A years worth of war is still a lot of money but considering that Russia has the population the size of Japan but a country that makes tons of money via arms sales and fossil fuel exports countries like china and India simply can't afford to be over reliant on the US.
a astronomical sum of money that trade with timid and cautious partners is simply not enough to sustain especially if it starts to be known and noticed that it is sustaining the hated war effort by the rest of the world.

B. Russia doesn't need to do shock and Awe warfare in fact they're trying to justify to their media and third world countries that they're the good guys by actively avoiding civilian casualties. They tried to slice and dice too big of a pie slice and got caught.
they tried and failed shock and awe because they suck and their army sucks ass and now theyre reduced to squatting and hoping the peasantry of ukraine dies of the plague before they have to deal with it again. also they kinda failed if thats the case with the intensive bombing in civilian areas including hospitals (dont even know if those claims are true in particular but an optics tank none the less) and saying that actually they didnt rely on that when they were posting about having this done and dusted within two days and lied about having taken down ukraines anti air early isnt accurate.

C. China Buys Russian oil and gas and will probably get it for an even cheaper amount now. India buys Billions of Russian arms. Both of these countries are now going to probably get cheaper oil from Russia. Russia makes a shitload money from China and India. China and India will simply prop up the Russian federation's economy and all is well.
they dont make up that much of russias economy to say that being cut off will magically just have no effect when it doesnt seem like china or india are eager to prop it up singlehandedly and selling it for cheaper just makes it worse for russia lol

D. China's needs resources and Russia and china working together that's an immediate super power. Chinese financing and Russian arms that would be a risk to all the major current world powers.
china hasnt been gung ho about this russia business and cant really afford to play at empire like russias trying to do especially since their main route is economic growth which russia is not offering rn, at best russia could offer an alternative economy not a growth from what china has now or could have leaving the granny state to wither in the cold north

I am not here to suck Putin's dick I'm being realistic he needs Ukraine because the presence of bandera groups pose a security risk to Moscow. Having these groups in a country next door that's also a NATO member reminds the Russians too much of Nazis and WW2. Putin desperately bis trying to prop up their countries boomer truth regime that they need to be in Ukraine to prevent fascism from coming into Russia. That is the mindset the Russians feel about it. Also ask yourself this we haven't seen the new Russian stock really in this war they've been mostly sending out their obsolete reservists and equipment out first. (conspiracy time but I think Russia is backing chechnyan Insurgents so they can keep them fighting for Moscow and die for Moscow so Russia can increase it's presence and eventually intergrate chechnya back into the federation more.
putin is set on the old russian empire, if he wanted to keep nato off his border hes more than likely failed since finland is now ignoring nuclear warnings to join nato because of this as is sweden a close by nation who iirc fought for the nazis to keep the soviets off their back. i dont think youre sucking putins dick everyone here just has different bones to pick than i do, and i get hating ukraine and the west who use the same tactics when their oppressive but softer means dont successfully quietly sweep dissent under.

bulgaria and slovakia refused, poland hasn't given an answer yet. It's bullshit
i mean they can refuse ya. but if they are gifted those planes, and russia declares war on NATO they are gonna get drug into the conflict anyway. refusing doesn’t really do anything for them.

DEBOONKED bulgarian and slovakia directly said they will not do it and the Poles made a confused face when asked
ahh ty. i did not know this had been deboonked.

go on everyone laugh at me.

A bizarre political statement by Saddam Hussein has earned Iraq a windfall of hundreds of million of euros. In October 2000 Iraq insisted on dumping the US dollar - 'the currency of the enemy' - for the more multilateral euro.

In 2011, Nato militarily attacked Libya, enforcing a no-fly zone over the country to thwart Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi’s attempt to create a gold-backed African currency in dinars.
Gaddafi had an estimated 150 tons of gold, and had pushed African and Middle Eastern governments to also dump the dollar.
The main wall street banks in the United States would literally force the US to war to keep any kind of "hard" gold-backed currency emerging in the world. Any kind of currency like
that of sufficient scale would threaten the global position of the dollar and the basic underpinnings of the globalized US economy. They would not tolerate it.

That is the one sticking point. China and India hate each other. The Russians will find it difficult to keep both of them happy. But being able to triangulate a relationship with both is Russia's best chance not to come fully under the thumb of the Chinese.
I mean Russia can easily play them off against each other. India is a democracy after all and everyone from the communists to the fascists in the country can see that china poses an existential threat to India as a nation. India also has a growing population as well as a growing economy. China will face a severe population collapse soon and as a country will have to deal with an aging population as well as infastructure issues for growth and rebuilding too. Russia is about to become both an agrarian powerhouse as well as they're adopting modern farming methods and starting to become a bigger proverbial breadbasket.

With respect, I think the point Melty is trying to make is that Russia is facing crippling sanctions that could affect combat operations. To the best of my knowledge, they didn't during the Chechnya thing. Not exactly the same situation.
i mean before sanctions even the only way i could see them being able to pay for a year of war is if putin is just suicidally retarded and hell fucking bent on claiming every single piece of soviet territory starting with ukraine. i should have phrased it like that, that i dont think theyd be willing to wheather the cost of a full fucking year of this shit for maybe a shot of all of ukraine but most likely just crimea and the two separatist regions.

Likely true, but there's little point in having a petrodollar/world reserve currency if the world is an irradiated husk.

These pressures only seem to be mounting and sooner or later the non-US nuclear powers will force the issue.
