Regarding Ukraine pleading with the civilians to fight and handing out guns, I have been conflicted about such actions.
Being an American and owning close to 20 guns, I totally understand the militia / Red Dawn mentality. Heck, while I find the very idea of an foreign army being about to invade America and hold to to be silly, I still am partial to the idea of shooting a few people and screaming Wolverines!
But that's not what's happening in Ukraine. They are using people with little to no experience in firearms and expecting them to put up a resistance but that's just feeding a meat grinder. Nearly all will not being able to hit their target and will have difficulty changing fuck mags. It's basically a reckless use of a nations most important resource.
At least, in America their is widespread gun ownership where those that are new can be trained by a reasonably skilled person. Given all the wars we have fought, we have older veterans that can train partisan groups on basic tactics.
All that is absent in the Ukraine and I just think throwing some guy who used to sling coffee into battle is a horrible idea.
