These guys literally did. They are East Ukrainian separatists. The sheer amount of stuff these guys bought from army surplus stores single-handedly raised the price of a lot of stuff that previously went for peanuts.

The blue shirt the guy is wearing is a surplus Bundeswehr pullover. Those used to go for a few Euros apiece, now they're priced at around 30€. https://www.varusteleka.com/en/product/bw-pullover-surplus/26987

Obviously not in Ukraine yet because they're wearing their domestic IFF armbands, I sincerely hope they don't wear that into Ukraine as the Ukrainians have standardized on yellow armbands.
maybe that's the plan "everyone with a yellow armband is a chechen!", just like "everyone outside speaking russian is a saboteur!"

Did CRP actually make it to safety or is he still on the move?
PPP's stream had caps of bitcoin guys putting hits out on him in Ukraine.

Also more random from Ru /pol/

But Putin's actions have united the EU and NATO against him. Not a winning move, I would say.
They were pretty well in agreement that Putin was a naughty boy before the invasion. The only new thing that's crystallized so far is a rock solid agreement that neither organization was going to do shit to stop him.

Even if Russia wins, they have still lost, and the ramifications of that loss have just started.
I think they underestimated how huge the backlash from the West would be. I don't think the counted on how NPCish the modern west is, and how said NPCs can be whipped into a fanatical frenzy so fast that they begin to pressure not just governments, but every imaginable organization and institution on earth. Probably makes the old KGB agents feel a little envious.

I really wonder if they had a crystal ball to see the result now if they could have gone through with the invasion.

Operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06.00. March 2 on the Russian invasion

▪️In the Podolsk direction, the enemy is trying to continue the offensive along the border of Gorenichi, Gostomel, Demidov in the direction of Kyiv with the help of thirteen BTGs from the Eastern Armed Forces of the Russian Armed Forces in order to block the capital from the northern and northwestern directions.

▪️In the Zhytomyr region there are up to three BTGs from the warehouse
5 All-Army.
In the northern direction, up to seventeen BTGs of the occupying forces, despite the loss of manpower and equipment, continue offensive operations to block Kyiv from the northeast. The invaders were stopped in the areas of Kozelets, Bobrovytsia, and Makiiv. In the other direction, in the areas of the settlements Svitilnya, Peremoha, and Hostroluchcha, the enemy troops lost their offensive potential.

▪️Enemy troops with forces up to two BTGs make unsuccessful attempts to keep the heroic Ukrainian cities of Sumy, Lebedyn and Okhtyrka surrounded.

▪️In the Slobozhansky direction up to sixteen BTGr continue the offensive operation in the direction of Krasnograd and part of the forces up to four BTGr on Izyum. The invader suffered losses and was stopped near the settlements of Bohodukhiv, Chuguiv, Shevchenkove.

▪️In the Donetsk direction, without success, the aggressor focused on blocking the city of Mariupol.

▪️In the Tavriya direction, the enemy continues offensive operations in the areas of Skadovsk, Gola Prystan, Kherson, Snihurivka, Nova Kakhovka. After regrouping he continues to move in the direction of Kherson and Mykolayiv. Up to two BTGr operates in the areas of settlements Vasylivka, Chervone Pole, Novopetrivka.

▪️In the Black Sea Operational Zone, the enemy deploys a ship group and continues to prepare for a naval landing operation.

▪️Unsuccessful in advancing its forces, the enemy insidiously continues to launch missile and bomb strikes on critical infrastructure in order to intimidate the civilian population, which is courageously side by side with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The morale of the enemy and his will to win are rapidly declining due to the steady defense of our troops.

▪️Occupiers have losses in all directions. Information about this - a little later.

Together we will break the enemy, because the truth is on our side! Victory will be ours! Glory to Ukraine!
Holy shit, they talk like the advisors in Total War games, wtf I love corrupt slavic countries now.

Does anyone know what Russian/Russian backed troops wear the red armbands? It can be seen in some videos but in others the invading soldiers aren't wearing any armbands at all. I want to assume they belong to DPR or LPR units but am unsure honestly.

Here is an example of what I mean:

It seems to be one of the client states, I've heard claims of both Chechnyan and Belarussian.

Le Western democratic face:
2011 - Vladimir Putin! He'll be out in six weeks.
2012 - The Russians are getting uppish, they are.
2014 - This is getting serious. They annexed Crimea and start shit in Donbass!
2015 - How they are arming! They intervened in Syria! This is unheard of!
2018 - They respect nothing and upset everything!
2021 - Putin is amassing troops at the Ukraine border?! WE PROTEST! WE PROTEST!
2022 - He actually invaded Ukraine? We have became superfluous. Snore...

I didn't know the Soyjack face had such a long history.

Obviously not in Ukraine yet because they're wearing their domestic IFF armbands, I sincerely hope they don't wear that into Ukraine as the Ukrainians have standardized on yellow armbands.
Edit: Misread your post. Sorry

They've been wearing it too, though I have no idea what it's supposed to signify.

I think it's just a reflective belt similar to a PT belt that they'd obviously take off before actually getting into the field.
