From a pacifist perspective, the most ideal solution would be to have all the Eastern European nations form a union of their own which would have mutual exclusivity laws with NATO, the EU, or any Russian alliances. This would basically block the west and east from having any real contact with each other. Economically, it would also be great for Eastern Europe because they'd be the middlemen in all east and west trade, which would essentially be free money. This is obviously not going to happen though.

This kind of performative activism makes me so damn sad. It’s just depressing.
Everyone wants to partecipate to the Ukrainian debacle because people still feel the need to fight for something real, but it’s like we as a civilisation lost the the ability to do so and to discern what causes are worthy. People keep talking about this and fantasise about wars and such because they have no words or means to see that they should be fighting for themselves.

The problem with most of these maps is that it draws WW2 style "lines" when they're entirely obsoleted forms of measurement. This one is "closer" to reality but I still don't like the vast coloring down by the Crimea. This war is almost certainly going to be dictated by the vast amount of insurgents that plague Russia over the course of months or years and its important to note that Russia doesn't really control every little village and town in the countryside, they just destroyed formal national military units but left a seething population in the rear of their advancing units. Everyone should be very careful when dealing with these maps because they tell a false story. Every major invasion in the 21st century by a national military has been overturned by insurgent forces, the invasion of Iraq in 2003 had the US fleeing by 2009 as casualties were causing serious dissension in the country alongside the economic implosion, Iraq got dropped like a sack of shit. Afghanistan also was overturned in under a week after the US finally capitulated and left. I see no reason why Ukraine wont follow the same format.

I don't get why did Russia attempt to blitzkrieg when everyone knew that they were very likely going to attack and in what route. The point of blitzkrieg is to have zero time for the other side to react, otherwise you get trapped on their turf and the war starts to grind without an established supply lines.

At least taking pages from Israel's handbook for wars, the idea is to get the war to end asap before other countries have time to react diplomatically and have strong pressure within the country to end the war. This doesn't seem to going to happen anytime soon, especially if the Ukrainian public will continue to resist after the government surrenders.

You can hear some local autist train spotter enthusiast express her excitement.

Armoured Trains are some of the most rare trains you can possibly see outside of a museum. Last time they were used by a real army is way back in Chechenia 2 (If you dont count the one Soviet armoured train Best Korea still uses).
The only other case (before this) was a bootleg armoured train in Donbas. (In fact i would not be surprised if the new one is made by the same guys since no company makes these anymore.)
Also technically important enough of an event to outdate a Wikipedia article. Exiting indeed.
People just dont appreciate these anymore sadly. Back during the first cold war, they used to stuff ICBM launchers into trains. Those were the good times for soviet military train enthusiasts.

Well, NATO itself is too big to be useful, and as this conflict shows, NATO equipment and training alone is more than enough to be on par with Russian "Army". Imagine if Ukraine had modern SAMs and planes, the war would be over by now,
