Problem is a merc is out to get paid which they won't get if they die.

That's how it was in the 60s and 70s so sometimes mercenaries had an accident when their contract was going to end.
Back then they were also paid in cash because it was a shady business and that created some more risks: The guy who was going to deliver the money took off with it, you became a target for other mercenaries because you just received your pay out for the last 6-7 months, ...
Now these days everything is put on contract, payments are on time and sometimes your family even receives a 'bonus' when you get killed

I would like to pose a question to this thread. Is it at all possible that The West/NATO/US somehow engineered this war starting some time after the collapse of the soviet union with the Russians either being aware or unaware of the plan? That is, could Modern Ukranian history have been shaped by foreign powers to make this war come to be for whatever reason? I know this question is tinfoil and borderline schizo but It popped into my head a couple days ago and I have been mulling it over since.

I think that's just far too complicated to orchestrate reliably.
Maybe The West/NATO/US were hoping to kick off Russian aggression starting in 2014 but I think the current situation isn't going as planned if so.

I'm going to guess a mix of saber rattling and practice runs for missions. Maybe one of those things to make ruskies complacent. If they see tankers in the air for days/weeks they won't be so on edge when the fighters actually take off.

I am inclined to agree with you, such a plan would be incredibly complex to pull off and could be stopped by any number of factors. I also agree that a far more likely theory is that the powers that be have been angling for a war since 2014.

We know that initial announcements of Ukraine shooting down Russian planes etc were lies.

My new concern about this whole thing is the creation of new ISIS in Ukraine. Putin allegedly just signed an agreement to recruit Middle Eastern volunteer fighters to fight on Russia's side. Mass media are reporting there are currently 16000 "volunteers" already signed up and ready to join.


If that's true then i hope by the time they get to Ukraine every woman and girl (and little boy) has left the country, cos these guys like to rape.

If NATO can't agree with each other how to send old Russian planes over the border, I seriously doubt their ability to work together to orchestrate a war. As you say, all this NATO/EU actions and support are just them jumping on the opportunity to finally "fight" Russia after decades

That's the point I've been making all along on this thread. A biolab research isn't the same as bioweapon. And you can do bioweapons research without intending to create a weapon, just trying to anticipate enemy bioweapons.

Your concerns are entirely unfounded. The general rank and file of the Syrian Arab Army are largely Secular Sunnis who have for the better part of a decade been fighting against Islamic Extremists (Jabhat Al Nusra AKA Hayet Tahrir Al Sham, Ahrar Al Sham, ISIS etc etc) some of whom are affiliated with Al Qaeda and make extensive use of suicide bombers (However these suicide bombers are of course moderate rebel suicide bombers of peace). Meanwhile the Officers are largely Shia Alawites who have seen their people massacred by Sunni Islamists and Jihadists for the better part of a decade.
