i don't, i'm pointing out tha the west isn't much better about this.
in china the state does the surveillance directly, in the west tech corporations do it instead, the end result is similar.
for now the major difference is that the westerners are behind the curve by a couple years, maybe a decade, when it comes to how thorough their monitoring is and how powerful their surveillance capabilities are. but in the long term they will catch up, i am sure of it.
America has a very strong culture based around personal freedoms even if it's lost some of its edge. Even the worst bootlickers tend to want to keep their own freedoms. They wouldn't agree to something that, to some extent, hamstrings their own liberty.
I really don't see it going the way of China because Chinese citizens are the complete opposite. They have willingly given up their freedoms and placed everything in the government's hands for the sake of security. The government isn't just something formed for society to function, it's a patriarchal figure and going against it is seen as going against everyone else as well.
It's not a trade most people in the states are willing to make, if only because half the time the government isn't their favorite color.

Its more complicated than that. After world war I, Poland after independence immediately started dreaming of restoring its borders from the 1600s. They started marching into "their" Ukraine and "their" Belerus. It all went bad, but eventually everyone compromised on borders that gave Poland chunks of territory that were full of people that were not Poles and had not much desire to be Poles. It had never been intended by the countries who re-created Poland that it have those territories, but things happened.

The Soviets also thought it all belonged to them. So when the opportunity to grab it came during their alliance with Hitler, they took it. And at the end of the war, there was no chance they were ever going to give it back.

Winston Churchill on the other hand had a real hate for Prussia. The evil Prussian menace had made the good germans into bad germans. Good South Germans like Mr. Hitler had been corrupted by evil Prussianism. So Churchill made it official policy to wipe Prussia and everything Prussian from the map after the war. Part of the destruction of Prussia was giving big pieces of what had historically been Prussia over to Poland (with the German population removed). The Russians went along with it for obvious reasons that they were going to run Poland after the war. FDR went along with it because he thought it would make his friend Mr. Stalin more happy to have another gift.

Historically some people have pushed the idea that it was somehow compensation for what Poland had "lost" in the east. But the people who filled that former German populated territory were not Ukrainians or Belerusans from those eastern territories. The policy was all about erasing the menace of Prussia.
Churchill also really hated the idea of the military ruling a country, he thought it was the worst possible form of government. No wonder the "Army with a country" provoked so much wrath from him. There's a passage from The River War (1900) which I posted earlier in the thread to this effect.

Genuine question: Who is Putin homologous to?

Spengler believed that Russia and the west were 2 different civilizations. Importantly, he believed the Russian cultural phase started at around 1900. The western cultural phase started around 900 with Charlemagne. So we're about 100 years into Russian civilization. Therefore we should be able to pick out somebody from around the year 1000 in European history to compare Putin to. Maybe that way we'll be able to find out if Putin will really be successful. In my estimation, and limited knowledge of history, I think he's homologous to Pope Leo IX as he is creating a schism in his civilization between Russia and Ukraine.

If you have any questions, please refer to the chart.

No wonder a far fuck like that thought Gallipoli was a good idea.

He does sound like the perfect villain for Big Boss and Zanzibar Land though.

You won't find a Western homolog because Russians aren't Western. Their culture and history is different and it informs their entire outlook. It would be like comparing Roman generals to Chinese warring states generals.

Is that a lot? A little? Genuinely curious as I'd imagine they'd be pretty keen to help the Ukies, it is a Christian duty to be like the good Samaritan and Polacks I know seem to like Ukies and hate Russia. Tho idk if putting lots of families with little kids in poorly heated 19th century church buildings with only one bathroom, no wifi and very few electrical sockets would be better than the other options, they're not designed for habitation or comfort or even fire safety. Maybe donating money, clothes and toiletries is better. Is anyone sleeping in the streets?

Ngl, this place is creepy af and the name just makes it worse. If I was a displaced Ukie with a couple kids in tow I'd probably prefer the local municipal sports center than something that looks like a bad guy hideout from Deus Ex

Are you for real? 140 places for 1.5 million of people we have received so far?

Local sports centres? Get off the CNN my nigga. Half of them are sleeping at train stations right now.

Wifi and electrical sockets lmao, you faggots never cease to amaze me.

Yeah I remember some stuff about distributing migrant across tbe eu to better handle them.
Some nations were pretty against it tho, wonder which ones

Italy said they will only accept vaccinated refugees, otherwise they may take some but they will need to be tested three times a day or something like that.

Don't think they give a shit about covid at this stage, they most likely use it as an excuse because their country is bankrupt and they can't afford any extra costs right now.

This. Russians are European bodies with Tatar souls. It's not a bad thing, but Russians aren't European. They're just LARPing as Europeans since Peter I.
