It's dumb that the Rosgvardia are engaging in battle.

They're trained to control the population in civilian areas.

Sending the Russian Rosgvardia into battle would be as if America sent SWAT units into future extremely dangerous warzones like Taiwan or North Korea.

They're not adequately trained or equipped for war.

Iirc some people have said that the Russians can't deploy conscripts without authorization from the Duma. I wonder if it's a way to get more manpower without resorting to that option.

Gotta admit it's hard to see pics of these dead officers/enlisted, Ukrainian or Russian. They were just doing their duty, hopefully taking the best care they could of the troops entrusted to them. Heck, at some time I may have even seen Ukrainian officers and their families at our local commissary. The nearby Naval Postgraduate School trains many foreign officers. Sometimes when I hear foreign languages I don't recognize being spoken while shopping at the commissary, i ask where they are from and welcome them to America.

Can envision these officers as newly-commissioned lieutenants, then in their first assignments, attending their professional military schools/other training and education. Can envision their various promotions, with their proud spouses pinning on one new rank insignia while their supervisor/commander pins on the other, or getting medals. Can see these officers doing their time as "staff weenies".

Chances are most of these officers would have been pretty good guys to have a beer with, or encounter with their families at a picnic. But all officers/enlisted, of any nation, have the "unlimited liability" clause in their contracts, and sometimes that check made out to your country gets cashed, with "my life" as the sum payable.

Compared to this man, and the Russian officers whose pictures we've seen, I was very lucky. Just lost part of my hearing and gained permanent tinnitus.

Ya, we may see pictures here, but just like everyone else killed/injured in this war, they were people, too. All gave some. They gave all. I don't blame these Russian officers, I blame Putin for pissing their lives away.

My tinfoil theory is that this was all orchestrated by the US military industrial complex to justify its existence as the War on Terror winds down. Instead of Washington telling Zelensky to let Donetsk and Luhansk go and trying to solve things diplomatically, they goad Putin into starting a real war in Europe and encourage Zelensky to keep fighting.

Apparently at least 1 in 3 "Ukranians" swarming to Europe aren't Ukrainian at all, and there was the girl in Germany who got raped by Iraqi and Nigerian Ukrainians just a couple days ago. But yeah, generally speaking, the kind of people who become refugees aren't the kind of people you want to be around. It's just international panhandling, and nobody likes bums.

It could almost work if they had good support from their infantry and could go off road. The problem cones from the fact that Russia refuses to do any fucking maintenance on their vehicles which fucks them up.
Even with regular trips to the depot and PMCS, a military vehicle will get really bitchy and start fucking up. You can take the damn things on convoy through the interstate and it would still find some way to shit the bed and that's with a good maintenance team. These fucks didn't do their homework at all.

Maybe they could go off road if they weren't exceptional and expected a cake walk and decided to invade Ukraine, a country that turns into a fucking swamp for most of spring, in late February.
