I could not have said it better myself. Most people complaining about the "modern right" sound like Washington right wingers and by that I mean they have no clue about what they are accepting in US culture or how they have destroyed it by accepting what society has become. Let alone the danger they've unleashed to themselves, normal civilians, and even their children. It's baffling to say the least.

I think the other issue is every right winger in the old guard states we "need to return to X" but how do you get to X. Most of them say "By making a honest, unfiltered free speech based society." But I always ask them how do you get there? They always respond "Well by encouraging free speech." No. That's what you want, how do you enforce brainwashed masses to accept removing their shackles and endorsing freedom. They then stare at me speechless unable to comprehend how their solution is a non-answer nor of any relevance to achieving their goals at all.

This is true, I think free speech should be allowed a decent lee-way just not unlimited, and even then authoritarians whether people like it or not are right, if someone doesn't gate keep and assert the rules on what is allowed, then someone else will over time and undermine that rule of law/equal stance.

The ideal is to settle on fundamental values, use those to draw the boundaries, then have "free speech" within those bounds. We used to have this to some degree in the US, and we still functionally have it on topics that our overlords have deemed verboten (the Holocaust, for example). "Free speech absolutism" obviously undermines this and is a recipe for subversion. Humans need social standards and will develop them, one way or another, including standards regarding the bounds of acceptable speech. Saying "well it's all free speech anything goes" does indeed simply leave the door open for bad actors to set the standards for you, as we can see with all the woke bullshit.

The internet is no longer free speech however. Weeding out retarded ideas=/= big tech giants removing all ideas they disagree with. The issue with defending "free speech" is that the term itself is ambiguous and interpreted by the courts. "Nazi" rhetoric? Unacceptable. Pornography? FREE SPEECH. Yes, I grasp that in Yankeeberg, that's not how these terms work, but most of the world isn't protected by the First Amendment.
