That's a common misconception, to be honest. In progressives countries where the social stigma is significantly reduced, the suicide rate remains roughly the same. It's not to say societal factors don't play into it, of course they do, but to suggest that they do THAT degree is incorrect. The reason why suicide rates remain the same is because people with gender dysphoria don't get proper psychological treatment when they're younger, the brain thinks it's one thing but the body is another, so they begin to disassociate. That causes a number of psychological issues.

When they get older, they start HRT or undergo surgery, but that doesn't fix the years of disassociation and the compounding mental disorders from it. So it doesn't fix the problem and sadly, suicide is an option some people choose to take.
