In the USA, we used to keep all kinds of civil defense & national guard shit in school basements. The Ukrainians have probably been doing the same since the cold war.

The PPSH was one of the big 3 on my bucket list of machineguns that I wanted to shoot, and it was the first I shot. It was a really beat up gun, with untold thousands of rounds being put through it as a rental, but it worked fine. I don't doubt either of those subguns would work, given good ammunition.

1) Has a massive civilian population of ethnic Russians

2) Was where the infamous irregular forces set up shop, comprised entirely of people who couldn't hack it in any professional army but still wanted to kill Russians.

It's a reasonable assumption. Anything you hear or see from Mariupol - assume all images are of dead ethnic Russians. I do not believe for a solid moment that the Russians are out to kill civilians in a partially Russian city - many of those coastal cities are potential annexations, and the civilians seem to be pro-Russian, atleast in some numbers.

I do, however, believe the Ukrainians have committed endless war crimes against "their own" minorities and are, presently, spamming photos of dead ethnic Russian civilians claiming they were killed by Russian artillery.

Flechettes are legal, as are exploding bullets if they're over a certain weight. The case you mentioned with the fal may have been due to the bullet tumbling on entry, creating a much larger wound channel than if it just went through cleanly.

Edit; there's also some loopholes if the ammo isn't intended for use on people, and meant for use on vehicles or similar things.

Mariupol is the crowning clusterfuck of this war. Just on having Azov and Donetsk troops there, you already have the grudge match of the century. Add in the traditional Russian doctrine of leveling every building that so much as looks at them funny, a band of marauding Chechens, Azov's well-deserved reputation for channeling their inner Dirlewanger, the fact that somebody keeps blowing up the escape corridors, and Mariupol has probably passed Berlin on the scale of how fucked the city is, and is rapidly approaching Warsaw. The warcrime trials for this shitshow are going to last decades, regardless of who's conducting them.
