Nobody's idolizing Russia lol. Everyone knows it's a corrupt shithole. Unlike the west however, it's a corrupt shithole that cannot fuck with people across continents, so a stronger Russia is preferable for those who do not want USN carriers off their coasts everytime Uncle Sam thinks you did a boo-boo. By that metric, I can understand completely why Ukraine wants to join NATO. After all, a fickle Uncle Sam is better than the boot of the Russian bear.
