Nah, they had this position ever since Putin said "You've frozen our dollar/euro accounts, so either pay up in roubles or fuck off, we're not pumping this shit for free". Looks like they are determined to fuck off and sue Russia for breach of contract...

Except kicking Russia out of all posh European clubs like Council of Europe means it is not subject to the jurisdiction of European courts anymore.

So what can they realistically do to Russia for breaching the contract? Sanction it, freeze its assets and confiscate property of its citizens? Expel its diplomats? Close their airspace? Forbid Russian ships from entering their ports? Cut Russia off from SWIFT? Instigate a military conflict on its border to piss it off?

...Oh wait.
Well, there's another thing they could do: glorify and romanticize Russia and their plight the folks that frequent /pol/ and idolize the words and actions of someone like Senator Armstrong.
lol imagine thinking the West looks good in this. Guarantee you, a lot of people in third world shitholes see this as nothing more than Russians defending itself against Western meddling in what is rightfully Russian sphere of influence.

Oh, but you might be thinking: what should I care about what third world shitholes are thinking? And you would be correct, America and the EU can absolutely ignore what third worlders think. For now. Just don't be surprised when people start wiping their ass on western agreements once America inevitably wanes.
I know you love that scenario, but I just hope that you don't end up idolizing a place that's even worse than what you percieve America to be.

Man if only the Africans would use all that arable land that could support enough to feed the whole continent.
Well, when the day comes, they'll learn to farm or starve, like true huwhite men of old.

Nobody's idolizing Russia lol. Everyone knows it's a corrupt shithole. Unlike the west however, it's a corrupt shithole that cannot fuck with people across continents, so a stronger Russia is preferable for those who do not want USN carriers off their coasts everytime Uncle Sam thinks you did a boo-boo. By that metric, I can understand completely why Ukraine wants to join NATO. After all, a fickle Uncle Sam is better than the boot of the Russian bear. Shame that Russia currently has a nuclear veto on that idea.

Agreed. Americans aren't gonna starve, and no amount of dooming will change that.

Sucks for Africans and all those other states relying on American exports though.
Idk mang.

PROBABLY things won't go completely to Hell but a lot of people went hungry during the Great Depression so it's not impossible something like that could happen again, and continually printing trillions of dollars like it was nbd doesn't seem like it's not gonna lead to happy fun times.

Somebody tell Joe about the rabbits. :punished:

That wide swath of virtually dead land in middle of North Africa is sobering to see. And damn, even Central Africa looks kinda shitty.

Now I may be getting my history wrong, but didn't the Dustbowl had a great deal to do with the famine during that time as well? I doubt the same would happen again with modern farming methods.

I think there was already a tipping point.
Iran became way more cocky and so did Yemen and North-Korea.
China kindly said fuck off to the USA and the USA did nothing about it.
India wasn't interested in a meeting with a UK official about Ukraine-Russia and told him he wasn't welcome; instead they welcomed a Chinese official to discuss other shit.

The Great Depression happened before there were food stamps, Medicaid, Social Security, Section 8 housing, etc.
Now if those things go away or are greatly reduced, there could be trouble.
During the great depression mothers would sell their kids to make ends meet. It's not the kind of turmoil anyone would want to see, or even be proud of having gone through it.

It's pretty funny as well to see the Chris Rock/Will Smith spat is seriously getting under the nerves of the Twitter hohols.
Idk what's worse about Chris Rock's lame joke: the fact that a formerly hip, edgy comedian referenced a mediocre movie that's older than Will Smith's fully grown adult children, or the fact that I understood that reference.

You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the Boomer

Lol.
You ever hear of the phrase that it's sometimes worse to hear no response? China is keeping it's mouth mostly shut because it wants to play both sides, but if it has to choose between not doing business with the west or throwing Russia under the bus, there are going to be two fat tire tracks running through Moscow.
"Weibo normies" can also think what they want but they have as much influence over their government as the SLAVA UKRAINI!!!! twitter mob demanding we start sending boys over. The elite will always prioritize themselves and their bank accounts first, and most of them have assets in the west they don't intend to lose.
Yeah seeing what happened to the Oligarch's Western Assets not to mention 2/3's of the Russian currency reserves made a lasting impression on the Chinese Elites. They will decline to get involved beyond making money off the conflict and beating dirt cheap energy out of Putin.

That logic hurt my head so bad I'm having a hard time fully expressing just how fucking wrong he is. Democracy was only used in literally a handful of countries up until maybe 100 to 200 years ago, if anything Democracy is the atypical form of government. I can't even deal with the rest.

The fact that people keep treating their so-called elected representative as their boss shows what the real natural state of human governments is.

We hit the 2k Russian vehicle losses today, even though I disagree with the captured number, because most of those were probably scuttled by the Russians or destroyed by the Ukrainians to prevent Russia from recovering them, they are the most reliable numbers we got in terms of vehicle losses for the Russians.

Most notable of these is still the T-80UM2, which was literally a prototype made special because it had the Drozd-2 APS.
