General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

I think the tweet isn't really the issue because let's be real if they weren't going to do a POV, what else are they supposed to just not tweet promoting the event? that too would be kind of a break from norms where all participants promote the event to bring in viewers. Keeping silent and tweeting nothing would be odd and probably just make them seem ungrateful and unsupportive of the organizers of the event.

I don't think the tweet so much caused any other chat disturbances so much as them not having a POV did. Even if they'd tweeted nothing, their supporters would have landed in other channels watching and the same issues would have likely arose. (To some degree I think it would have even if they did have a POV up but that's largely beside the point)

So to me it really just comes down to the lack of a POV from their team and whether or not that was good or bad on them to do.

On top of that, Aqua has her share of Antis — especially when it comes to this game — so not having a POV could trickle them into the chats of streamers that don't really know what's going on.

Im beginning to see why Aqua has been so hesitant to ever join, and is still hesitant to ever join another.

Reimu about to play Silent Hill soon

I think it has the possibility of bringing in more of the wrong types of fans to the vtuber community. There are enough problems as it is and we don't need all these fujos around. It's the same reason why I didn't like Calli going on Trash Taste because I don't like their fanbase and the casual crowd.
Honestly has been my concern too as of late. Had a lot of friends within' the community I'm in that's mainly fan-artists get into vtubers through Nijisanji and I've been noticing they're treating them, especially the boys either like how Dream fans treat the minecraft youtubers or how genshin fans treat the genshin characters and It's honestly the worse fucking thing ever. A lot of them got parasocial with the streamers within mere weeks and now coddle them like they're immune from criticism. It's insane.

Based on what people discuss so far regarding Vox and the fujos. Did he pretty much follow the same bread and butter as Mafumafu (RushiNeko’s twink), and all it takes for his downfall will be some fujos dig up how he blasting some gal on daily basis while taking their Simp money?
Pretty much. I watch Vox often because he plays a lot of the games I like a lot like FNAF and every so often, he would cater to the fujos in chat even if they say the most depraved, weird shit imaginable and while I kind of commend the dude for the dedication to the grind, I'm genuinely concerned about the outcry if he ever does something that isn't to the general fujo population's liking because he barely does anything to set boundaries. He just kind of accepts any fanservice request he gets as long as it's in the form of a superchat.

what a perfect little man whore. speaking of Vox, his gonna play some overwatch with my favorite dragon

just two bros playing some games. nothing wrong with that. heard Selen has gotten interested in overwatch again since the beta for overwatch 2 will soon be out. maybe i should start playing some overwatch again soon.

by the way, fucking selen man. she streamed for almost 12 hours just a few hours ago and already has two streams planned. she has dedication if nothing else.

If there was any doubt left Calli just said in no uncertain terms that Resting Power is "my very own version of Reflect"
I think it's actually the opposite in a way. Gura seem afraid of her past, edgier side pulling her down while Calli rants about her new "idol" persona taking over the supposedly edgy Demon Dice.

What happened to IN admittedly left a really bad taste in my mouth and KR is relatively recent tbh. KR was a case of them being too hands off and not providing support while IN was them not supporting and having no idea what even do with the branch.
I've heard that they actually hired IN for EN management.
I hold onto to one serious rrat - at least until her birthday - and that she's planning on returning back to the States for a long term stay some time after the obligatory Japanese 3D debut. I'm still calling it a rrat but it feels like it has more weight.
I think that she's homesick and it shows in little outbursts (going on tangents about family, her pets, etc ) and I know personally that living long term overseas with ties back in the home country is going to get to you eventually. Doing this could help a great deal. It's a lot like how Kiara's mental state got considerably healthier when she was back home with family, friends and her cats after her long isolation in pandemic lockdown Japan. Once she was back in a familiar environment with the people she cares about as opposed to more or less alone, all of her doom and gloom started easing up. Like Kiara it would be good for Calli/Karen to be back with her family for a long period of time. Especially after being unable to return for the holidays which must have been totally devastating.
Workwise, staying in North America for the foreseeable future also would make the logistics of her career much easier. She'll have access to meeting most of the Myth girls easily and it's easier to get between NA and Europe. She already mentioned plans of Karaoke with her Mom and I cannot see any feasible way of getting your boomer Mom to learn how to use discord or whatever.
She said multiple times that she want's to stay in Japan for a very long time, house in US is in her plans but no idea how much she would actually use it. At least to me and I'm not much of a deadbeat (especially this days) it doesn't seem like there is much to keep her there other than family. People that shaped her as an artist/musician that she still tries to push, even if they make her depressed by acting like passive-aggressive jealous pricks are still in nippland and she probably values this connections above anything hololive-related honestly, her beloved Trash Taste will stay there (I think) and there's also 3D studio I guess, not to mention Japan loves to do stuff in person so even when dealing with producers and such it's probably better to be there.
It's interesting that she mentioned DD stuff ramping up as a reason to invest in the American "base" (rather than collabing with other "applebitches waitresses" doesn't seem like it's her priority), makes you think she's pretty confident about her prospects, of course leeching off hololive would help with that.

Talking about projects during that NTR RPG session with TT somebody out of shot asked Karen if she opened a twitch account (not yet), so it seems like sponsors (?) want her to become a twitch streamer or something, it happened just before she announced her convention shit so it's probably connected in some way or at least with the same people that help her organize it.

I can't find the exact post (mostly out of laziness) but someone mentioned they don't think NijiJP ever catered to the fujo dynamic:

a LOT of the male JP have, like, man-crushes on Kanae, and I'm pretty sure the only reason it never goes too far is because Kanae has been extremely clear about his boundaries and disinterest for it. Though he has a "thing" with Kuzuha, both of them never really fed the fujos with anything much more substantial than making their avatars cuddle and bromance stories.

That said, it's not anything new for the JP vtubers in general, even the HoloStars have done improv BL skits (especially the mafia themed one whose name is also escaping me due to laziness). It's a little funny to see people worried about the fujo audience when they've been here the whole time, but I absolutely agree the western fujos that came in with the gen 1 EN Niji boys are a toxic force to be reckoned with.

Selen actually had to split the stream in two so it was a little OVER 12 hours.

She already said that it was the last big stream thing she does for a long while so she can chill and avoid burning out. So from now on until OW2 (which I am guessing will be her next big Ranked grind) she'll probably stream less often and/or for less hours.

Or, if you know Selen, you'd recognise that she says this every week and never does it.

I guarantee she didn't mention applebitches because shes saving those announcements for 4/4

On the subject, Towa's team looks VERY good. Two 1st places and a 4th in 4 matches is extremely strong.

However, I do suspect Aqua may end up getting a nerf like Astel and Gorilla. Not because of Aqua herself, but because of Suisei.

You see, Suisei's spot was locked in whilst she was mid-Gold, but now she is being professionally coached, and the last we heard she was in mid-Plat (an entire tier above where she said she was). Unlike Astel and Gorilla who selected actual Gold players, Suisei is a Gold in name only and could easily be a low Diamond player by now given that she plays with more confidence than someone like Ars who is Plat 1.

Without a nerf, Towa's team could be tournament favourites just by virtue of loopholing the point cap system, as a D4 Suisei would make the team worth 20/18 points.
tl;dr Due to Aqua's autism, the team stumbled onto a player who appears to just need some coaching to help her reach higher ranks. I don't think Suisei naturally groks shooters in the same way Aqua does because of lack of FPS experience but having someone to iron out the kinks and point her in the right direction appears to have been the push she needed.

On one hand, it's a bigger issue because Towa ranked up to Diamond 3 shortly after being chosen so she's actually worth 7 points not 5. (Partially balanced out by the fact that the tourney inexperienced Aqua was given a 10 instead of a 9.)

On the other hand, this wasn't some attempt to game the system. Towa was on record that she wanted someone more experienced (probably a Plat 4 player like Fubuki or Roboco). Suisei was a gamble on Aqua's part, and I don't even want to call it a gamble because Suisei was partially chosen because Aqua and Suisei had an KiritoxAsuna role-play Apex date a year ago. (Yes, really.)

Additionally, I think you're overestimating the current Suisei because you were seeing her at her best in those scrims and she's been improving rapidly so her level of play can fluctuate heavily. I think Plat 2 is legitimately where she's at now but her level of play can fluctuate from Gold level decision making to flashes of low Diamond level mechanics. And there's no difference point-wise from Suisei starting off as a Plat 4 and improving to Plat 3 compared to going from Gold 4 to Plat 1. It's just that her starting point was lower, and being a legit low-Gold scrub when she was chosen instead of a serviceable low-Plat player shouldn't be held against them. It's only an issue because it shows a rate a progress where if she doesn't hit a wall (not guaranteed but appears to be a real possibility), she has a decent chance of being a low Diamond-level player by the time the tourney rolls around.

And no one knows who the coach is, how much coaching she's been getting, or when the coaching started. But my guesses:
  1. It's probably someone Towa knows (duh). Either Uruca who has been watching Suisei's POV a bit too much or Alelu who said he's helping two other players on the side. Maybe some Apex stalker knows more but those seems like reasonable guesses.
  2. I feel like you're assuming the amount of coaching she's getting is more than a player from a team with a coach. But the likely candidates indicates that's probably not the case or if it is not by much.
  3. Even three weeks ago, she was gold-level (stream on March 12th). I'm guessing the coaching started a week or two before then and something clicked in her head afterwards or straight up started afterwards.
Some additional context on the type of person Suisei is:
  1. She was a mid-tier scrub (Holo-wise) and not close to being in contention to win the 2021 Mario Kart tourney. After around a month of grinded her ass off, she became the 2nd best player, and beat Aqua just because people said no one else stood a chance of winning besides Aqua and that pissed her off.
  2. She is a grinder. She's on record staying up 24 hours to play Apex and practising Apex while chatting all night after a Shiraken (Flare, Polka, Miko, Noel) collab. 5 hours a day of grinding for this year's Mario Kart tourney was considered light work.
  3. I don't think Suisei is as mechanically gifted as Aqua, but she arguably has the quickest mind in Hololive. Even ignoring Tetris which she can play at a high level, sing/read chat at the same time, you can see her raw processing power in this Big Brain Academy stream. When things click and she sees the solution in her mind, she's blazing fast. There are points where I can't even follow and she's already inputted the solution.
  4. She's improving this rapidly when Apex isn't her #1 priority to the point where she said she wouldn't join if Aqua wasn't the one asking. She has her Anniversary Live coming up this Thursday, please come and watch. She's also participating in the VTuber Fes 2022 on April 30th.
Honestly, any talented player with some coaching would progress as fast as Suisei and some a lot faster. Plenty even progress faster without coaching. I'm sure if you took a random snapshot of Predator-rank players, Suisei's rate of progress would seem pedestrian. The fact that she was ever stuck at low gold makes it insulting to compare her to them. The problem is most players in the tournament aren't talented. They're hard stuck Platinum or low/mid Diamond players. They won't improve this quickly even with coaching.

On the team itself:

Over the past two days, they've either finished really high or really low and mostly low. Right now, a bad drop location is a big enough nerf because of their issues (Suisei's inconsistency and Aqua's solo-queue habits) and has easily knocked them out of contention. However, once they're in a comfortable position they're clearly very strong. if they get their issues sorted out they could be a problem balance-wise that's definitely an issue that needs further consideration beyond drop location

This has had something of a domino effect, as some Japanese fans are speculating that no one provided a POV because they are hiding the presence of a coach to protect their Gachikoi. There have been a few occasions where Towa is too sick to stream her POV in a tournament but can still be heard in the POV of the other two, so the fact all three of them are the only non-viewer team without a POV is raising eyebrows as to the veracity of Aqua's claim that they aren't being coached.
Suisei revealed on stream that she has a personal coach. Anyone with a brain knows it's a guy introduced through Towa. It's clearly not an issue.

I don't doubt that Towa is getting feedback from someone that makes it's way to Aqua indirectly. You could argue that's almost the same thing and I agree but I don't think they have an actual coach.

So why not stream? Suisei was a legit gold scrub only three weeks ago and they had low expectations and were legitimately worried about their performance. Here's a clip of Towa talking about their performance yesterday here. Suisei wasn't even familiar with the map they were playing on. They were getting rolled until the last two customs yesterday. Was it a fluke? Well, it's clearly not a fluke now but there was no way to tell that after a single win on the last match.

Noor being a part of EN management is an old rrat that I think is partially based on Linkedin or something. Finana said that Noor did her interview though she didn't say if Noor was still around. Then one of the Noctyx members had a test stream set to public for like a minute prior to debut and there was a voice in call that sounded like her. It seems quite likely that she's still working for Anycolor.

Unrelated, but I'm glad to see that the existence of non-penis haver vtuber fans is still causing people here to freak out.

They're annoying and crazy but they're not the problem.

Nijis and their fans adopting the Anglosphere's left-corporatist own-the-chuds attitude—treating complaining customers as political enemies, censorship targets, etc.—is an apocalypse level event for the industry.

If anyone can make a unicorns btfo post here and get a thumbs up for it, it's already over. And it is. Congratulations, Nina.

I will defend this movie till I die. He makes shit movies, especially "game" movies. But I will die on the hill saying that this movie is the embodiment of Postal 2. Also, the entire movie is on YouTube considering I highly doubt anyone that has anything to do with it cares.

The whole reason why the movie is funny is because when RwS owner and CEO Vince Desi sold the movie rights, he only did it under the condition that RwS would have a lot of control over the script and production.
Most of the jokes and skits are Desi's and Postal 2 director Steve Wik's.

But allegedly the opening hijacking sequence is Boll's and an incredible piece of satire, have to give him credit for it.

Edit: Why the fuck did fishman greenlight a Postal watchalong? Isn't he supposed to be a Leaf? The movie might unironically be illegal there at this point.
He is almost as much an agent of chaos as Pippa.
