General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

I'm not sure if we have any audio engineers here, but I hope we do to answer something that's been bothering me. In watching and rewatching 3rd fes something noticeably bothered me. Some voice tracks noticeably sounded expectedly flawed, in a good way, especially when you're expecting to watch something live. But others sound so suspiciously perfect that it screams prerecorded and edited in post. I'm wondering if anyone with any kind of experience can weigh in.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the JP girls were not there and had to prerecord like EN and ID.

I thought the conclusion was that the performances were pre-recorded. So touchups in post are possible.

Could be their vocal pitch shifters they use to achieve the anime speaking voice? Some pitch shifters use similar side chains to autotuners, and that can return a constant LFO, which means every note has the same impossibly perfect quantised length and vibrato bend to it. They are probably unaware it is happening, if so.

That's how almost all of it sounded (and some of it looked, especially Gura's smoothed moves and weird expressions).

Even Risu doesn't "really" sound as good as her performance, and she's Holo's best singer (artistically) by a huge margin. In ideal conditions she does sound like that, but while dancing is far from ideal.

They did sing their songs, nobody appeared to have been replaced by a professional dancer, Haachama went "ACK!" and Korone really flipped. Real enough.

From Botan's zatsudan streams we at least know they hang around once a week and, at least once a month do a big thing like going out to gibsneyworld. I have little reason to doubt Botan because of all the holomems, she's the least likely to put up with dumb rumors being thrown around her face.

Do we know anything about Tenma's roommate. She seems like the most huggable 30something japanese woman.
Only a sliver of past activities as an online commission artist and a possible kpop fan. She scrubbed her traces rather well.

I'd ask the same question of Pikamee. Since the Tomoshika pics a few days ago I've been wondering if there are any "normal Asian girl with glasses" pics to associate with our kettle.

EDIT: Since Tenma love is on the menu, I'll bring attention to the silly short videos she sometimes makes to play with her assets. There are quite a few of these, some more "shitpost"-y than others.

I was wondering what Kobo reminded me of, and I just noticed. The way she talks, she like an indonesian Miko :story: one really has to focus on what she says when you're listening to get it.
Shit, you're right, even I have trouble following what she's saying sometimes. If the voice is all an act, she must be one hell of a VA to keep that up for so long
To be honest though, finding a young woman who isn't one in Asia is so ridiculously hard, you better just give up

We also know that she lives in the Kōtō ward of Tokyo, and that she has a second (not phase connect) job which requires language skills.

I also think even RPR mentioned something once about his chat being absolute retards if they think he's ever going to play with Aqua. And that's coming from someone who's built up quite the repertoire of vtubers he's collabed with.
Good on him to call out the always annoying collab beggars. He even knows well Aqua likes to do things solo also she is kinda shy.

Seconding this - was this about Aloe, or did something happen to NePoLaBo recently, or something else?
I read somewhere that 5th gen were IRL friends before hololive, is that not true or did something happen?
Ok, my bad. It was a mistake and I meant third generation. It was funny to see people so concerned though.

'We do not involve ourselves in the personal lives of our talents'.

Karen fights this one alone, and it's probably correct to do so. Cover do not want to take a PR hit by suing people within the Court of Public Opinion by suing people for calling a racist a racist (using their thought process, not mine).

Yuzuki Roa has set a precedent domestically, that Japanese courts will consider a V-Tuber persona and the person behind it as the same person, but Cover themselves have never actually acted upon their threats of legal action, so I'm not sure how realistic it is for Cover to start suing nameless Twitter accounts.
The moment it involves connecting Mori with Karen is the moment Hololive actually steps in. It's why what happened with Ollie ended up getting resolved so quickly (on top of Hololive's connections with a powerful conglomerate in the area). The Rushia drama was initially hands off because the drama specifically called to attention Mikeneko and Mafumafu with no mentions of Mikeneko being Rushia. HoloID threatened legal action after a dumbass was trying to take a shot at Ollie publicly.

First, gyaru Okayu is sex incarnate
Sephira Su (JP セフィラ・スゥ) was a vtuber for a fortune-telling corpo that went down, and with it, the vtuber herself. People who have her as oshi have been waiting, so I'm not surprised the crowdfunding campaign looks to have gone well. E: I am a bit disappointed that the debut looks to be in June, but maybe things like the actual rigging for her main model are still being worked on.
More context, her (Su) and Kamishiro Kurea and Suzuhara Lulu are all designed by mom, Saine, and only Kurea remains. Here is their cute song for their momma

Additionally Su has been on Kurea's channel since she graduated as a "mystery guest"

Her fans have been waiting for a while so this is nice news.

Call it autistic if you like but this is something I've been watching go down for a while and I just feel like posting it here. Someone else might be able to give a better account of it.

You might be familiar with the FPS/VSPO general on /vt/. Even though its main purpose is to cover more niche vtubers who are mainly active on the Apex scene, there's enough content to have kept it going all this time. Since its focus is more niche, posting about vtubers like Towa and Selen has been controversial there, since there was a fear the general would become just another Hololive or EN vtuber thread.

Flash forward, and Aqua restarting her Apex run and joining Vsaikyou has caused things to become worse for the general. On top of it being an event that would generally attract dumb thread tourists, Aqua is pretty popular among people like /#/, who refer to her as the "Nijikiller", so anything Aqua related is also going to attract plenty of shitposters and tribalfags. A few temporary solutions were tried to remove Hololive discussion from the thread and diminish shitposting, such as outright putting "no Hololive" in the OP and making seperate threads, one for the typical VSPO/Neoporte/Crazy Raccoon/etc. discussion and the other an Aqua-related containment thread. This seems to have backfired and drawn even more of the ire of the numberfag raiders, with today's VSPO-exclusive thread just being spammed to death with Aqua images. Now there's a lot of doomposting among the general's regulars, with some considering abandoning it entirely, or at least until Vsaikyou is over.

Anyone have any idea who this is?
She has Mikarin and Canan in her guestlist.

Mikarin* is Marine and hasn't been active in that account for a while now while Canan is Noel of course.
With DDK now being more active and now this, should I be worried about what it means that these PL accounts are awakening, even coming out of long-term hibernation? Are they preparing their lifeboats/parachutes?
