Makes me wonder if it's possible to have a Discord for normal people to get together and play fighting games together without letting troons in.
>Using Discord at all
That in itself is the problem

You want a place that's so obscure no one will touch it, go back to the old days of IRC, create a channel, password protect that shit and only let a few people you're cool with know about it.

Makes me wonder if it's possible to have a Discord for normal people to get together and play fighting games together without letting troons in. The only way I can think of is a private Discord between disgruntled fans and then it can be invitation only.

I would love to talk to level-headed people about my favourite characters and games, have a safe haven for setting up matches. I'm not very good so I'd lose all the time but it'll be fun to try.
You can always make your own private server, but I'm not that savvy with the app. Isn't it basically like ICQ but with audio chat?

Yeah sorta but the problem is they're gonna start cracking down and banning people for actions off the platform and saying things they don't like. Discord has purportedly been pozzed.

An Element server?

Actually, Testament's official bio for GGXX, which you can look at here, actually uses 彼 (kare), which means "he" or "him" at one point, but Japanese rarely uses 彼 and 彼女 (kanojo) in regular speech the way English does, despite what most textbooks make you think.

That could be because Japanese doesn't really have an equivalent for they/them in the non-plural sense, so it comes down to just choosing one or the other, and since Testament before Strive was visibly more masculine, that's what they went with, or it could just be they didn't really give a fuck because why would they back in the late 2000s before genderspecials started taking over social media.

I'm not gonna dig any further. I was always a Zappa main anyway.

Capcom had a lot of internal restructuring that lead to them being super risk-averse when it came to making games. Around SF4's release, Capcom set a new standard that every game franchise had to break 1 million sales otherwise it would be considered a failure. This is why Mega Man and everything that wasn't Monster Hunter or Street Fighter died in the early 2010s.

The reason why we got five billion Street Fighter 4 rereleases and nothing but Monster Hunter games and spinoffs during the 2010s was because MH and SF were the only two games Capcom felt confident enough in being able to meet that standard. Capcom's humanity fully died when 2010 hit.

It's only in the localization, but troons will run with the "they/them" shit regardless. None of the troons celebrating play Strive anyway. At most someone like Sonicfox is going to try to pick up the character, get his shit pushed in, and then quit.

I never really got the grammatical logic for a singular "they", he and she use "is", they uses "are", which is plural.

I'll never get why the Japanese way of drawing an "androgynous" character is to draw a girl, remove the tits, and call it a guy.
So that explains why we haven't gotten an Onimusha or a Dino Crisis after the fans have requested it for almost 20 years? Another reason I don't bother with modern gaming anymore, and just stick to the classics.

So "The FGC" is trending on Twitter now. Anyone got details? From what little I've gleaned, Team Spooky was kinda acting like asshole to people from Texas due to an incident where a kid tried to play in a tournament on college Wi-Fi. Spooky got dogpiled for it and quit and now everyone is like "Shame on you for dogpiling Team Spooky!"

Anyone got any better info? From what I see the kid in question was a young idiot but the TOs handled it poorly. Typical case of everyone being too stupid to function.

Do note that the person from Texas who isn't allowed to play appears to be a different person from the kid with the bad connection. So it SOUNDS like this story is "We had one bad experience with a kid from Texas so we're banning the whole state except for my friends". Again, I could be wrong. Lemme know if anyone has any better info about this new drama.

NLBC Online is the biggest online tournament in the US. Especially for SFV. It is also region-locked, and Texas isn't allowed. However, they made an exception for Brian_F for the 100th tournament and because his connection was decent they've allowed him to continue joining the tournaments since then (its been about 2 months) they also allow one other player, but I don't know who it is. This obviously annoys various Texas players who aren't allowed to join. This came to a head this week when player Golboitoi attempted to join listed as being from Louisiana and the connection test that NLBC requires listed him as being in Texas. Which led to the third screencap you posted, and apparently a lot of people have been having problems with him. That's not even the best DQ I've seen from that mod BTW. The best one is these two guys were in a match like, actually in match playing the game and the mod pinged at 8:42 or something and then decided to DQ at 8:45 and at 8:46 the guy replies with a score for his completed match and the mod says "cool story, still DQ'd." Which is fucking ridiculous.

This created a big drama, and Spooky has already been annoyed about how poorly his offline events have been doing. So Spooky decided to take this opportunity to end NLBC Online.

Here's Spooky's statement about ending NLBC. It seems pretty boiler plate and doesn't really address the problem that creating exceptions to these region lock rules created. https://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1ss0lbd

had no idea there were so many trannis in the fighting community. what is it about fighting games that attracts them there?
It was part of the fag movement taking over spaces in the video game world. The FGC was very black and very masculine 10 years ago so it seemed like a priority target. SonicFox really helped with that since he was a top player in multiple games and an open sexual deviant. They took over tournament organizations and started banning people left and right for wrong think and toxic masculinity.

Thanks for the informative posts!

And really the troons are everywhere. Escapist media attracts them because they want to escape from who they are. Which would be fine except that Troons now wield a ridiculous amount of social power. You're not allowed to say anything about them or you're "transphobic". Can't even call someone a fake troon. Nope, if someone declares themself a Troon then they are a true and honest woman and everything they do is morally right and just and anyone that disagrees with them is a monster.

So I mean, why NOT take over your favorite hobby?

Remember when everyone's favorite black guy was emasculated by a troon?
