How am I a collaborator or a fifth columnist?
You are an ethnic Russian from the Donbass of fighting age, that anybody will be able to immediately suss out that you did not serve. Certainly people have been wrapped to a tree for much less.

I don't think you are a coward or a traitor for running, I think that was the smartest thing you have ever done, regardless of how much you hate Russia. At least you have the sense to know that this isn't your war and fighting and dieing for an Oligarchy is not your problem.

But let me clue you in on something, there is simply zero reality where things in Ukraine will ever just "go back to normal". Zelensky is shoring up power for himself for perpetuity, the economy will be ravaged for decades. Once the war is over how much funding do you think the West will keep pumping in? Look at how much money the US sent to Afghanistan after the fall of Najibullah. If anything the West will simply look to see how much they can asset strip Ukrainian resources to pay themselves back. There isn't going to be some web developer jobs in KEEV that people can simply return back to. Any smart Ukrainians right now will be looking to put roots down in the EU to avoid going back at all costs. I would marry an ugly bitch before agreeing to go back to Ukraine.

As for the left behinds, they will inhabit a barren economic wasteland. The EU will obviously block all further immigration (you can kiss visa free travel goodbye). All the women are gone, and every town will be filled with broken men riddled with shell shock, PTSD, and survivor syndrome. Ukraine will have little money to pay them pensions or healthcare, certainly not mental health. They will be unable to hold jobs or relationships, and there are no women around to mate. But the one thing they do have: a sense of power. Right now they have the power to decide who gets to eat, and what they must do in order to get fed. They have the power to institute martial justice. This sense of power is not something they are going to want to let up, and whatever regime that holds KEEV will have to placate them somehow, and since they don't have any money for pensions, it will likely be to simply allow them to extort everybody around them so that they can fill up all the bars medicating themselves.

Please tell me how you think you are going to hold them off explaining you are not a collaborator or a fifth columnist?

Oh my fucking God, do you really think that GDP of Russia falls by 1/3, because "US banned trading in Russia"? :story:
As measured in US Dollars. Key point.

You keep deflecting on that because you realize that if you measure an economy by PPP it totally refutes the point you were trying to make. So instead you just play fuck fuck games.

Russia and the United States should be allies, not enemies. They have much in common as we too have vast resources, like Russia, and we have common interests and goals.

You see Elbereth, America must do what's best for America, not a bunch of greedy neocon jews in the State Department. Russia must do what is in its best interest. Ukraine is not acting in the best interest of the Ukrainian state and its people by provoking a war with Russia, as war is only in the best interest of the aforementioned neocons and their financial partners in the MIC. This war is a failure of politics and diplomacy, and can be directly ascribed to interference by outside actors and instigators, using Ukraine as a catalyst.

Europe is historically susceptible to disputes which erupt into all out war, with disastrous results for its citizens. The US was founded on the principle we should not become involved in, and pay for, foreign wars and disputes, yet out government has done precisely that several times with mixed results. We have bailed Europe out of two world wars, and a third is out of the question.

Had we pursued a policy of cooperation with Russia and limited our involvement to mediating disputes in an impartial manner, and not favored an out of control greedy cabal of international financiers and neocons whose interests benefit from maintaining ongoing conflicts, the world would be a safer and more prosperous place. As it is, you seem too enamored by the shiny new iPhone, the latest Nikes or silly content on Facebook to grasp these concepts. A consoomer, you are.

Best of luck to you and Poland. You will need it.
>us and russia have common intrest and goals
>they should be friends
>why arent they friends >:(
Is this your magnum opus you want to change 200$ per hour of writing? :story:

*sigh*

Good points. I don't trust my country that it won't descend into bickering as soon as it gets any measure of quiet, as it has already started now that Russians have been driven out from Kyiv and as much as I would like to think that EU will keep its word about supporting Ukraine as soon as the war is over, it's better to live it and see.

And I know history, so I know that the gun is going to be a great social mobility lift, so your words make sense.

I do have a gripe with how you've wrapped reasonable inferences with just tiny poisonous pills like "dying for oligarchy" and you can't really dispute them within the context (because once you do, there will be a reasonable comeback of "why don't you go ahead and fight"). And I also think that being absolutely certain of certain outcomes before they actually happen is not very reasonable.

But yeah, when you put it that way, my chances to find trouble are indeed quite high, I agree.

Vince, are you in Lviv? If so, find Malcolm Nance and punch him in the face.

If the US bans companies trading with Russia, US companies have no reason to exchange US dollars to rubles. Hence, the ruble is worth less US dollars.

How do you not understand this?
Because, you fucking dummy, the US did not ban trading with Russia. Not now, nor in 2014. In 2014 all the US did was cuttin off few Russian banks from US market and some personal sanction. US exchange with Russia is penauts compared to trade exchange with EU.

And I'm pleased to inform you, that not only US firms use dollar. USD is the most common exchange currency, in which transactions are made across whole world.

Also, just so you know. In Moscow and I'm preety sure also in Saint Petersburg, people are expected to pay for their rent, for their children's education and bunch of other things in USD or EUR

No, I left Ukraine a month before because I had a hunch that Putin will actually attack. The same kind of hunch I've had in 2014 that things will turn for the worst.

Glad we can agree on that. Good luck to you in any case, and godspeed.
Thank you. It's annoying to admit reasonable arguments when they go against your emotional state but it has to be done.

On the wikipedia page, you provided the last calibration was in 2020, which was canceled due to COVID. What about 2021?
If you change the language to Ukrainian, it has a note about 2021 celebrations. Some people were investigated for displaying Soviet symbols.
However if you follow the source link, the article states that people were investigated for displaying Soviet and Nazi symbols.
It just doesn't have this note about 2021 in the English language page, which doesn't mean the celebrations didn't happen. If you use the Russian language page, it stops making notes about the celebrations in 2017.

Ukraine has a law that equates Soviet and Nazi symbols and considers them illegal to display.

Then there's apparently enough reports of partisan fighting in Russian controlled territory that one of the main sources of maps about the war has included that for a few days now:

DraftUkraineCoTApril19,2022.png

All in all, people are resisting. Things just haven't progressed to the point yet where there's large scale guerilla warfare. People aren't that desperate yet, and Russia's not being so openly provocative in unfriendly areas that people are going that far.
That shaded blue area is around Melitopol, I was curious as to the source for that partisan resistance because this is the first I've heard about it. It appears it's this report from a week ago from Ukrainian Pravda (Archive):

>Source: Chief Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine
I rolled my eyes so hard reading this that they fell out. If anyone could help me find them that would be great. This is the same source which is claiming a 10:1 k:d ratio for Ukraine, that the Russians have run out of ammo and supplies 3 times, and that they've destroyed just about every Russian tank and fighter operating in theatre.
For what it's worth, the BBC, which is publishing it's own map sourced from the ISW is choosing not to show the purported partisan fighting:

100 kamikaze drones are flying to Ukraine to help

The company-manufacturer of kamikaze drones, Switchblade decided to give Ukraine 100 such drones. Their delivery should begin this week, – the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

At the same time, the GUR, referring to the manufacturer's statement, added that 100 drones will be provided "independently of other company systems supplied to Ukraine by the US government."

Do you think that usd/rub exchange rate dropped because "US banned trading in Russia"?
PPP is not a measurement of exchange rates it's a measure of how much actual stuff you can buy in each economy from the money that's circulating.

It's the least problematic way of measuring economic output. China outgrew the US economy about a decade ago and has been roaring ahead ever since.

Why would it surprise anyone that China, population 1.3 billion, has a real economy bigger than America, population 300 million?

Well he's right isn't he? You refuse to serve your own country while it's being invaded. There's only 2 justifiable reasons either you have a conscientious objection to fighting or you're a coward.
